My FI and I picked picked out a diamond from Mark T at engagementringsdirect and I had this ring setting custom designed by Alexandria at Bostonian Jewelers. FABULOUS people and INCREDIBLE workmanship.

Your compliments mean the world to me as I heavily prowled the boards before making any decisions. I had all but decided on a round because I wanted the sparkle factor - but after seeing the cushions that Mark tracked down - I absolutely fell in love. I didn't work with him directly (my FI wanted to do all the legwork) - but we saw 3 stones that he sent up and all were fantastic. My FI said that he was great to work with. Thank you again. There is no 'tears of joy' emoticon but it there was it would be right here.

It seems as though the diamonds are recessed into the settings? So far, the prongs aren't bothering me at all. I can put my fingers together and press and I barely feel them. When I squeeze my fingers together with my other hand - that hurts - but that hurt before when I had my great grandmother's ring on which had no side stones. Heck, that might even hurt if I had no ring on. I had told my jeweler that comfort was a concern (along with being able to eventually wear an eternity w-band without messing up the setting) and they seemed to have made it work. They did a test with different sized stones and said that for my hand these 7 pointers were the biggest that I could go with minimal discomfort and since I also felt that bigger stones would take away from the center, it worked out perfectly. I had gone back and forth on pave/prong set but in the end this setting is a perfect match for me.
