 It's very pretty. I think it would look good on most body types....the BM dress that I was thinking of looks similar in the waste, my MOH who was about 3 months pregnant at the time (and showing) tried it on, she looked good in it...although I think a dress with an empire waste would look better because that is more flattering to all body types.

I like it too! It looks like it could be flattering on several different body types. I'm always a fan of bridesmaid dresses that can be worn again. I hate the dresses that scream "I had to wear this to a wedding!"

I really like it. Are you having a casual wedding? I think it would be perfect for a garden themed wedding.

I think that dress could be flattering on most people. But let me do a bit of a PSA: Empire waists do not look good on all people. If you have anyone remotely "pear shaped" (heavier on the bottom) they could look pregnant b/c there will be extra fabric around the middle .... I'm speaking from experience.

I think that dress is gorgeous! I love the green color. I also think it is formal enough for your wedding, but not overly formal. I'd definitely wear it again. I also think it will be flattering on most women. Halter necklines are flattering on most everyone, and so are A-line skirts, which that dress has. Also, I think most women look best in dresses of that length -- either right below or right above the knee. I think 80% of us do not look as good in floor-length dresses -- unless you're 5'10 and above. The waist (empire waist?) may be tricky, but the only way you'll know for sure is to go with a few girls to try it on.

EXCELLENT choice--I'd totally wear it again if it were my bm dress. My last few bm dresses have all been strapless--something I don't wear much in "real life" and those little straps make your choice perfect as a future cocktail dress!! LOVE IT!

If any of your BMs carry a few extra pounds around the middle - I don't think it will be flattering on them. The ribbon/belt waist is a hard look for many to carry off. Sorry, just my thoughts. It is a cute dress. Scintillating...

It is a great dress, but like others have noted, if any of your bridesmaids have extra weight around their midsection, putting a bow will only make their waists look larger. It will draw everyone's eyes to their midsection, which is not what they would want if they aren't tiny there . Just my opinion from seeing some of my BMs try on dresses, as well as the opinion of several local dress shops.But if that is not a problem, then I say go for it! I had my BMs try on different dresses before I decided (or had my heart set on one). I wanted them to be happy. So maybe you should take a trip to a dress shop together. I do think the satin makes it dressier, and the belt does match perfectly but to me tea length BM dresses are more informal (not in a bad way but just something to think about). I have seen MANY BM dresses with a belt so if you wanted a floor length one they shouldn't be so hard to find. I also agree that if any have a bit of a tummy it may make it more noticable than less.

I have two girls who are quite thin, but my MOH is built like me- uh.. larger after having had four children and now entering our 40s.. lol My other ladies are still in thier 20s and no kids. lol A halter v-neck is going to make busty girls look even bustier, too.

I think it would look GREAT on most body types. The only think I'd be a little careful with is that none of your girls are flashing TOO much cleavage.. but that should be able to be controlled with proper fitting.. |

Great comments from everyone here, so I don't have much to add except that I would love it if I were your bridesmaid. It's definitely a dress that I would wear again. As everyone else said, I guess it depends on the bodies of your bridesmaids. |

I'm sorry, I am going to have to agree with Michelle. I don't think green is a good colour for everyone. Secondly, the alter neck isn't good for the large lass, or girls with a large bust (who will need support under the dress) I would definitely involve your BMs in the selection process, because you want them to feel comfortable with what they are wearing. Does this BM dress have a halter top? I can't tell from the pic. But anyways, halter tops, as people have already mentioned, will only make bustier women look even more bustier.

This is the dress my sister picked out for her wedding. Although she ended up not having attendants, I did go try this dress on. It looked surprisingly good (my fiance said I looked very Sarah Jessica Parker- haha, I've been making him watch to much Sex in the City). I'm really small on top but I have hips and a butt. The only weird thing about this dress is that is a halter top and the strings that you tie it with are SUPER long and hang down the back and look very strange. I was thinking that if she decided on it, that I would have the strings taken off and a clasp added to the two straps (but this would only work in the two straps met each other behind your neck, which it did on me but probably wouldn't on everyone). Just a little first hand perspective- personally, I loved it!

Blod About the color not being for everyone...you know I never once thought about what would look "flattering" on my bridemaids or not. I chose my color because it was my wedding color and that's what they had to wear. Its so hard anyway to try and find one dress style in one particular color that would flatter everyone in the bridal party. Surprisingly enough, the hunter green dresses I chose looked great on all the girls! I think that style dress should fit a variety of body shapes and sizes. The material looks like it may be less clingy which can definitely be flattering...we used something similar and it "skimmed" rather than clung. Also, do not worry about being selfish. This is your wedding and if you want the girls in a dress that will make most of them happy and it makes you happy because it matches your dress, go for it! My favorite color is sparkle!!! |

i love it!! and think that it would be flattering to most body types. really if you do have various "bodies" in your party the only way to flatter them all is to coordinate dress (having different girls wear different shape dresses that best suit them individually) rather then matching them all. so i think this style has a really hopeful possibility of making everyone look and feel great! who designs that dress?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. The dress made by Bari Jay. None of my bridesmaids are particularly busty, but one is pregnant and will be having her baby two months before the wedding, so she will probably be larger in that department by then. Two of my bridesmaids are short and super-skinny and will probably look good in anything. Number three is very short (under 5') and average build. Number four is taller and bigger-boned and is the one who is pregnant. Although I want the dress to be flattering to her as well as the others, it's tricky because there's no real way to anticipate how her body is going to change in the next few months. Before the pregnancy, she was more pear-shaped, so I thought that this dress would look good. Then I found out that she is pregnant (and I'm soooooooo happy for her), so that make things more complicated. The problem is that the two super-skinny ones are the only ones I can really go dress-shopping with. I went to look at the dress with one of them, and it looked good on her, but the sample was way too big. I know what you mean, SarFar, about the long strings. I was thinking the same thing as you, that we could just pin them and cut the rest off or something. I would like everyone to wear the same dress, and everyone seems to be willing to wear whatever I pick out provided it's not strapless. The other thing I like about tea-length dresses is that they might not have to be hemmed, since 3 out of the four are short. Anyways, that's the situation. Thanks again for your opinions, they really are helpful.
