As I have posted before I am helping a friend to pick out a e ring for his fiancé, my very best friend. She doest want a diamond and she does not want a sapphire that looks like everyone else (she is very picky). Here are the final sapphires. All three choices are heat treated and come with certification (they all come from a wonderful Lebanese owned store here in Fla) Also can someone tell me why most sapphires are most always oval cut? The rest of the budget that was meant for the sapphire is going to be used to make a custom alternating sapphire and diamond eternity band.

Here is the first one it is a wonderful shade of velvety violet blue. My friend doesn't really like ovals but the two we saw today changed her mind. Here are the specs 4.68 CT 10.7 X 8.4 X 5.6 MM

I think I'd go for the green one. There's something more unusual and unique about having a green sapphire. And the color is gorgeous!

I agree with MiniMouse -- I LOVE the first one.  But if you're looking for something different the green one is very very nice.

They are all pretty.  Has your friend considered a "blue" diamond?  They are quite beautiful and a well cut blue diamond has the fire and scintillation of a real diamond.

That first one is stunning!

I think I read once that most sapphires are oval cut because that is the shape that the corundum tends to be or to grow.  I think they said that round sapphires are more expensive because you don't find that shape of rough as often.

Hi Rod

I told her about blue diamonds however she wants a sapphire. Apparently in the days of old sapphires meant loyalty and sincerity. That and her gram's e ring was a sapphire.

Then, I would personally choose stone 1.  The faceting and color (at least in the picture) seem the most vivid to my eyes.

Personally I love the green one just because it's a little more unique. But if your friend wants a sapphire, I would go with the first blue one since that is what most people would envision when they think of a sapphire.
Those colors are so beautiful and vivid...RHR anyone???

I agree with the other posters, #1 between the blues, but there is something very appealing about #2 : ) Where about in Florida, I live in the South east region of Florida?

I wish you well,

I like the 2nd one.  The green color is unique and I like the cushion-esque shape better--it's more unique for a sapphire.

Oh darn it the jeweler sent an email with a pick of an emerald cut sapphire to my buddy. What do you think about this stone? My friend is going to have to take a few days to think this over.
