hello all- i have been reading pricescope for about two months now...i will be ( hopefully!) getting engaged in the next few months. my boyfriend and I have been looking at all types of rings...I have decided to go with a cushion cut---there are so many though, it is overwhelming...anyway, we have a friend who works at the market in atlanta/....she supposively can get us really good deals in diamonds...has anyone ever done this before?? THANKS!

You HAVE to go to "the mart" That's where me and my BF have been looking. Everything is wholesale..... My favorite two stores are Treasures and Archer. Go to www.americasmart.com to get their contact info...you can check out Treasures on the web at www.treasuresinternational.com Just to give you an example of the beauty that awaits...I had looked at a Tacori setting, the band and setting were about 8K...at Treasures an almost identical setting with the band was $1,300. If you are looking to have something custom, I would go with Archer....Victor their master jewler is amazing! Good Luck, let me know how it goes!

Oh! One important detail I forgot......to get in you have to call ahead and have them send a guest pass to their registration desk. Unless there is a show going on you won't have a problem getting in. The mart is only open M-F 9-5.

Gracie it is SO EASY! All I do when I want to go is call one of the jewlery stores, ask them to send a pass and then I go. You may want to check ahead of time to make sure that a market isn't going on.....go to www.americasmart.com and check out the show schedule before you make plans to go.

i will...have you ever been to...harlin diamonds...that is where a family friend works..and we are currently sending her pics and such to get an estimate. a friend of mine wen and got a 1.58 RB, G color, for 5700. the family friend has already given me one quote on a cushion that was WAY more than that....so, i might have to shop around...

I am not farmiliar with Harlin...but it sounds like they have wonderful prices on rounds! I'm going to send my BF there to look next time he goes! As far as radiant pricing...I think they are always more eexpensive...but of course I am not an expert so I could be wrong. I have always had good luck with Archer (treasures customer service and knowledge of product seems to be a lttle lacking). The owner is the designer/jewler. My mom and I went and felt very comfortable...they taught us a ton about diamond grading and pricing...we felt they were very honest and they took time with us even though we were not there to buy that day.

i think my email might of been poorly written...the diamond i mentioned...the 1.58 round for 5700( ot somehting like that) was not found at Harlin..but some other place at the mart.....My family friend works at Harlin...she quoted me a price for a 1.73 Cushion for like 9300. I thought i might be able to find better than that...so i was gonna go look around.what do you think about that price, since i think you know more about this that me! i think the color was g or h...can't remember the clarity...
