My prayers to all the familes of the West Virginia coal miners.

"Hello Dollies"

Combine 1 stick melted butter and 2 cups graham cracker crumbs. Press in greased 9x13 pan. On top, layer 1 package chocolate chips, 1 package peanut butter chips, 1 12oz can lightly salted peanuts. Top with 1 small can sweetened condensed milk (I use fat free big deal!). Bake at 350 for 25 minutes (the edges should be bubbly). I recommend not cutting them until the next day because it seems to take that long for the graham cracker bottom to really harden.

Unfortunately, one man perished.

Thankfully, the other 12 survived.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the families.

What an amazing story of survival.  I am watching CNN now.  Very sorry that one miner lost his life, but so glad to hear the other 12 are alive.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families.

this is good news!  i heard earlier on an independent news program that the new owner of the mine has a history of safety violations....has there been any reporting regarding that?

Unfortunately earlier reports were wrong.  12 died and only one survived.

For 3 hours those poor family members thought 12 were found alive.  Bad misunderstanding.  I can't imagine the emotional whiplash this is causing.

Oh my word, the horror that the families have been put through is beyond belief.  They had hope, then believed their loved ones were alive, then they're told they're dead.  How devastating.  My thoughts and prayers are with them.

From what I heard .. most of the voliations were minor and were not to blame for the accident..

This story is so tragic as the incorrect information was communicated to the families.  They all believed their loved ones were alive and were rejoicing, only to hear that all but one had perished.  So sad.  My heart goes out to all of them.

Oh no.  When I heard it on the news they were still reporting twelve survivors and one lost.

DH and his family are from West Virginia (not too far from where it happened) and I lived there for a while, so it really hits home for us. I cant imagine what those families felt when they were told the truth after believing the opposite. I will pray for them.

Absolutely devastating....to feel reassured your loved ones have survived only to find out that they didn't.  My heart goes out to all of the families reeling from this loss.  So horrible.

What a terrible tragedy. How incredibly sad, it just breaks my heart.

How the news media could have been so irresponsible for reporting what someone said, versus actual fact.

To go from one extreme of sadness to uphoria of hearing there were 12 alive and then to find out they weren't, how incredibly awful and irreponsible not to have confirmed information. I cried all the way to work this morning, those poor families... bless thier hearts.

It's unfortunate but in this case I don't think the news media is entirely to blame.  A mine foreman made the announcement to some of the families who were waiting in the local church that 12 men had survived.  That message was relayed to the news media. I think the news media like the families assumed that the mine company was relaying accurate information.  It's what all of us wanted to hear. The miscommunication came somewhere between rescuers in the mine and the mine officials on the other end of the radio.  I read that they may have assumed that when they were told the miners' vital signs were being checked that they were alive instead of being checked for signs of life.  Very, very sad.  There is however one family that will not have to bury a loved one and one family who had their prayers answered.

Such a tragedy - I am so sorry for the anguish these families must have felt but yet I am sure it was an honest mistake.  I hope with time that the pain of that mistaken report eases for them - I am sure I would feel just the same way they do though.
