Heres was my 1st questions on my old thread:
http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=37908

I got a lot of great advice and posted my NEW questions on that old thread but I think everyone who already gave advice probably won't recheck it...so new thread.....here is what happened last night:

Ok so I went out and looked at a 2mm plain plat band....did not like it at all it looked waaaaay too big! Then I found an even smaller plat band with VERY tiny diamond chips in it. The band itself was almost flat and on first putting it on I liked it and bought it. Now I think i'm gonna return it. It's nice and it helps my ering and wedding band not hit into each other but I don't think it makes them fit any more flush. I think i'm going to need something custom...I just have a wierd shaped ering and i'm going to need something to fill in the wierd spots in between that and my wedding band. Or mebbe i'm just being picky and too worried about them rubbing??? Here are pics:
Blurry but you get the idea....I think it's probably somewhere between 1mm and 1.5mm

With my wedding band and ering:

From the side you can see it actually makes sitting them flush worse:

My set on thier own, not too bad in sitting flush but they move and clink together all the time:

I also wanted to add that I have emailed about getting a custom spacer done. Does anyone else have customs spacers done?? Pics?? You don't see a whole lot of them

I definitely think that spacer ring you got doesn't help at all...I think it looks worse than just having the set alone.  I think the set alone looks perfect together, but if you are concerned about rubbing, it seems likely that a custom spacer is the way to go.  Most people probably don't get custom spacers because they can usually find something suitable (and custom is more expensive) but it shouldn't cost too much to get a plain band that's straight on one edge and curved on the other...I think...

Definatly I mean I don't know what was going on with me....i got home and was like....what the hell was I was thinking?? That doesn't help at all. I think i'm also just having a hard time figuring out if I need one or not. Would a custom spacer help them keep from turing a lot? Is the amount they are rubbing together really bad for them??

On another note.....after we purchased my wedding band from a mall store...we noticed the rounds in my wedding band were pretty yellow. Since this is the band I said my vows in I would never want to get another one......however I was wondering if the stones could be switched out? I asked someone once and they said no because of the setting that they are in. Anyone ever had the stones in thier wedding band changed or made larger in a setting like mine?

Your set looks so pretty on its own, I wouldn't use a spacer unless the diamonds in your wedding band are damaging the engagement ring.

I cant tell how much the diamonds in your wedding band hang over the edge of the setting but it doesn't look like the diamonds would wear into the prongs (the prongs look like they are higher than the profile of the band) and if the rings stayed lined up well the diamonds shouldn't rub against each other very much since the baguettes curve inward a little.

Was your upgrade just the diamond or is the setting new too?

When you first posted about a spacer, I thought your set looks great as it is.  The ring you bought just doesn't do it as far as I'm concerned.  I would go without a spacer.  If the rings clank together perhaps they need to be sized??  Or if you must get a spacer I'd get one custom made.  So it fits like a glove to your rings.  Just my 0.2

have you considered having them soldered together?

Yeah, definitely return the spacer.  It doesn't help the situation

Do you want the spacer because the stones on the wedding band are rubbing against the ering or just the metals hitting each other?

I would either look into getting a custom spacer, having your set soldered, or just doing nothing.

I definatly agree with you guys, I took that back today. I really was just having a moment. Like seriously as soon as I got home I was like hmm that looks pretty dumb. More than anything I was just worried about rubbing away and scratching at the rings. I also would of liked to of find some way besides soldering to keep them more together.

Rhapsody just the diamond is new......it had like a .30ct before and now it's .83ct. Maybe I should just suck it up and get them soldered.

If you've had them for awhile and the only problem is a little scratching from the metal rubbing together I would leave them be. They wont stay as shiny, but you can't see that while they're together anyway. And there shouldn't be a whole lot of metal loss, so structurally they should be fine. Wear them and enjoy them! Scratches can't be avoided completely, you'll drive yourself crazy trying.
