I have a .70 G/SI1 ACA stone that needs a home.  I've narrowed my choices down to either a 3-prong setting or a halo.

Kaleigh had one made, which is here:  http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=32204.  I've heard some comments about them "flipping" on the neck, but apparently Kaleigh found the design secret so they wouldn't flip.

The halo option would be very much like the Ritani in this picture.

I'm leaning toward the halo, but worried that it might be too dressy for everyday (or every other!) wear.

Thoughts or opinions?

I vote for the 3-prong.  I love the clean lines of it and how the diamond floats.  I think the 3-prong is more versitile and is more easily dressed with jeans or a fancy gown.  But then again, I'm not a huge fan of halos either.

I love the halo. I am thiking of having one made with a pear shape stone I have. I saw an antique one with a small row of diamnds and a small row of rubies.

It depends where you live and how they dress there. I live in Manhattan and would have no hesitation about wearing it every day. But it would not stand out here as being ostentatious whereas elsewhere it might.

Gosh, that's a hard decision because I love both LOL.  I don't think the halo would be too dressy.  I would just think about the size you would the diamond to be on your neck.  If you would like it to be a bit larger due to the halo, then I would go with the halo.  If you like the diamond size as it is on your neck, then go with the three prong.

Sorry I couldn't be much help!

Normally I would say halo for sure, but you have a very nice size diamond to work with, and a 3-prong would look very nice too.  I'd be fine wearing a halo daily, but I tend to wear more jewelry in general than most people.  This is one of those preference questions, and there really is no better choice.

I don't dress up regularly, but I wear my halo pendant quite frequently.  I don't find it too dressy.

I like both.  In fact, last night, I JUST ordered the 3 prong from WF after waffling back & forth in mind between a halo &  a 3 prong.

The deciding factor for me was a little bit money and a little bit the thought that it would be easier to "upgrade" to a halo later if the 3 prong became too small looking.   Plus, I tend to dress down & wear jewelery on the conservative/classic side.
