Hi!![]() I live in Atlanta. We've decided to have a destination wedding, but if I could afford it, I would have LOVED to have our wedding at Fernbank Museum. The great hall with the dinosaur knocks my socks off. http://www.fernbank.edu/museum/homepage.html I went to one of the most beautiful weddings EVER at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens http://www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org/ Where have you looked? What have you considered? Tybee |

Well, I'm in a rather unique position...I actually work in the event industry in Atlanta (interned at Fernbank before graduation) so I know too much about what is around.......I would love to do it at Fernbank, but you are right about the $$, it's a little out of my price range too! The problem is, I want an outside wedding, but because of our schedules it looks like I'll be getting hitched in July, August, or September.....none of which are my first choice because it's just too hot.....oh well! Right now I am considering the Fox, Magnolia Hall at Piedmont Park (do you think they can AC the park just for 1 day?), the Wimbish House, Rhodes Hall....the deal is, none of these just knock my socks off. So where are you and your honey going to go for your destination wedding?

Oh, I think that the Fox is lovely. I've never been to a wedding there, but what a great old space! I went to a wedding at Magnolia Hall last fall, and it was very nice too, do they not have AC? I think it was cold during that wedding, so we wouldn't have noticed. The photographs that you can have taken at Piedmont Park would be lovely, though. With the Atlanta skyline in the background. Have you thought about going slightly outside Atlanta to get more bang for your buck? One of my bridesmaids is getting married at Zion Farms about a month before our wedding (ours is in July, so obviously they'll be married in June.) I know they're planning on an outdoor ceremony. We went to a beautiful wedding at Glen Ella Springs (near Tullulah Gorge) in October of this year. It was my hands down favorite wedding of all time. Very beautiful venue, again, being in the mountains would make it considerably cooler even in August. My FI and I have opted to escape to the Caribean for our wedding. I can hardly wait! We'll be wed at Caneel Bay on the island of St. John, USVI! wahoo! |

Those are all wonderful ideas! Because almost all of our guests live in Atlanta, we want to keep in as close to the city as possible. I think I am pretty comfortable with the Fox idea now....I'll be going to an industry launch party there the 2nd week in January so I will look at it with diferent eyes. I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Congrats on the wonderful location for your wedding! It sounds like ti will be beautiful! Promise you will post pictures when you come home!

Hi, not engaged yet, but have looked all over the net for venues in Atlanta....nothing wows me AT all....One place that did is expensive, Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville, Ga. they want almost 7K just to use their location in their gardens/ruins or chapel...the chapel is not pretty in my opinion, and I would be crushed to have to have the ceremony there instead of the gorgeous gardens/ruins....then I sent off for the wedding packet/video for Zion Farms in Rome, Ga. it too cost I believe the same as Barnsley Gardens.....and it is very rustic, but pretty. Ugh, not sure about any of it yet, glad I am not engaged yet! Who are you going to use as your photographer? Has anyone heard any personal feedback about Pricillia Wannamaker? I just LOVE her photos, but would need to hear that someone has actually used her.... Courtney |
