I've tried and I've tried but I still love the Daniel K union square setting. Thanks to everyone who's replied to my threads about square diamonds - my question now is that I seem to be more in love with the setting than the diamond....so....what's the smallest mm square diamond I could have with the union square setting to make it effective? It was mentioned on a previous post that it would have to be of reasonable size. Thanks.

Hi Ruby. I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier, I hadn't seen your post. I love talking about Daniel K rings though so here's my opinion. I have tried on many Daniel K rings, and the Union Square one as well. I would have to say that the lowest you could go is 1 carat to look OK. The pave detailing on the band and prongs etc. is just esquisite and it looks better the larger the stone you go. I saw one setting (not the Union Square) and it had a center stone of about 1.07 carats. It looked extremely small compared to the gorgeous pave details. I saw others around 1.5-2.5 carats and I'd say that if I got that ring (which I don't think I will, given its cost) I would have to get at least a 1.5 carat to even make it worth it. Which is why I am sure I won't get a Daniel K.

after just seeing Daniel K rings last week for the first time I agree with Elle. Anything smaller than a carat would be too small. the asschers and cushions face up smaller than rounds too so your already losing some visual size difference there too. I tried on a 1.5 cushion and then one slightly smaller and knew i really needed the bigger one . |
