So.. I'm going to be in Dallas for two weeks in January. Its for work.. but I will have the whole weekend in between the two weeks to myself and I have a rental car with unlimited mileage.. so I was thinking.. if you girls in Houston wanted to have a get together.. I could drive down and see you. I always say I am jealous when you have your get togethers.. I feel like if I'm so close.. I should make an effort to be part of one :) What is the drive, 3-4 hours?
Anyway.. I'll be in Dallas from the 9th-20th of January.. so the free weekend is the 14th-15th.  Anyone Game?

How much fun!!!! I would love to meet you in person, MS!!! I am not completely sure of my schedule for then at this point, because I'm starting my OB/GYN rotation on Jan. 3, and so I may or may not be able to make it. Hopefully I'll know several days ahead of time. But I'll do everything I can to be able to make it, as this is a special opportunity!!!

Are you thinking of Baylor in Waco, Dallas, or Houston?

Dallas to Houston is a bit of a drive.  It's 240 miles, more like 4-5 hour drive.  Texas is bigger than most people think.

Apple - I'm actually not going to stay in Houston, because my hotel in Dallas (I'm actually staying in Bedford, which is between Dallas and Fort Worth)  is on my company account..and I already have it booked there straight through.. So maybe lunch would be good, because then I could get back to Dallas at a decent hour... but whatever is good for all you girls.. I can do..

Long drives don't bother me. Especially when its not on my car. :) Mapquest told me its 4 hours, but that usually over estimates time..

lunch sounds good for me!  Dallas to houston is a bit of a drive, I just do the day trip thing occ to dallas and its is totally doable if you are willing to drive.  If you stay between 70-80 most of the way, its about 3-3.5 hours.  maybe we can meet in the woodlands or something so that you wouldn't have to drive all the way into houston?  that would shave ~30min driving time each way.

I'm in Dallas :) Made it to my hotel, even though Mapquest tried very hard to stop me from making it there! How is going straight turning "slight left"?
It sure is warm here! Maybe its the humidity.. but I was dripping in sweat by the time I got to my rental car!

Welcome to Texas!  Yesterday was unusually warm.

I will try my best to make it on Saturday, but Friday night is one of the FI's friends 30th birthday, and we are getting a party bus to go barhopping, so I might be too hungover, but I will try my best.

PurplePassion, we'd love to meet you too!!!

Ya'll wanna do something in the Galleria area? That would be easy for MS to get to...since she can just come off the loop right there.

I am so excited to come visit you girls this weekend! I am bored out of my freaking MIND here in Dallas.. I went to a mall tonite though.. and holy crap you crap have lots of jewlery stores here! There were more jewelry stores than clothes stores I think! I went into Bailey Banks and Biddle because I'd not ever been in one before.. You would NEVER EVER EVER see stones that big (CZ displays or not)  in a Buffalo jewelry store.. ESPECIALLY in the mall!

Anyway.. Figure out where ya wanna go.. and then give me a clue how to get there. I am in Hurst, right off of 183/121?

MS, you want to get to I45 south, which will take you all the way to Houston. Once you get here you'll take Loop 610 west and come around to the Westheimer exit. You'll exit onto Westheimer and turn right, and the galleria is right there. And what you do after that depends on where we're gonna eat!! Any suggestions, Houston ladies??

The Galleria is like my second home....   I can't make it a couple of days without getting the itch to go and shop....

Not being from Houston, when I first moved here I was in complete shock.  I could not believe that there can be soooo many restaurants on one street. Trust me, you can find anything and any type of food you want all on one street.  It's amazing!

Welcome to Texas MelissaSue!  Hope you enjoy your trip!

LOL @ Renee's black hole....haha

Renee, we have not designated a place yet....and I'm open to whatever! I thought it would probably be pretty easy for MS to get to the Galleria area, so that's why I said that. What do you like in that area? I don't really know much about what's good for lunch around there...I'm usually in the med center around lunchtime. :)

Hmm... in the general area there's Maggiano's, Carraba's or Romano's for Italian... Escalante's or Ninfa's for Tex-Mex, Dimassi's for Greek, California Pizza Kitchen, eatZi's... the list goes on & on!

Or we could go somewhere IN the Galleria... Cheesecake Factory, Fox Sports Grill, Bennigan's, La Madeleine... THEN we could go check out some crazy jewelery... I saw/held (but was stunned into stupidity and didn't try on) a 5 ct asscher at Louis Tenenbaum Estate Jewelers last time I was there!

What do you girls think?  Any picky eaters?
