I just discovered this forum after already posting this in Rocky Talky, and I think it belongs here!

I have a very nice stone, an emerald cut, F in color, VVS2 in clarity, to put in this A. Jaffe setting(below). There is a matching band that I want to get as well. It is .80 carat, and has a length to width of 1.35. I have searched far and wide to come up with a good setting; and here is a bit about the woman:

She is elegant (hence the emerald cut I think) but still contemporary. She likes to be different than other women (with style). She has told me she likes things simple, and prefers a solitaire setting. However, I have watched engagement ring commercials with her, and sometimes she hints at having a setting that has a couple SMALL stones on the sides to make it sparkle a LITTLE more(nothing like a paved setting). She thinks it's "very pretty." The attention grabber on the ring should be the diamond, not anything else. She has long, bony fingers FYI too, and this ring and band seem to be on the narrow side.

That's why I am opting for baguettes, so they aren't as sparkly, but add to the overall appearance.
What do you guys/gals think of this setting, wedding band and all?

imagine an F-color emerald in here. Well I would say it's an E, but GIA downgraded it to an F. Good for me cause it's cheaper!

Or this one?

An emerald solitaire is my current "dream" ring.. so I've looked around a bit.
There is also a very pretty A Jaffe setting that is a 3 stone with an emerald center but the side stones are small enough to let the center stone POP. The website is not cooperating with me though.

I'm just having fun now..

This first one is absolutly GORGEOUS.. Sort of a bigger version of what you have in mind..
The second one seems like its probably too frilly for your girls tastes but it never hurts to look. :)

Hi jimutc

Although I think the ring you posted is lovely, I really like the one Melissasue posted.  What do you think about those?

I think the last ones MelissaSue posted are a little too much for her tastes. I just can't see HER liking them, although plenty other women will! The first oneI like better~ do the baguettes go all the way around in the engagement ring?

To me it looks like the wedding band baguettes go all the way around.. but on the e-ring it looks like there are only 3 on each side

I like the one Melissasue posted. the first one...looks like a larger Emerald cut, with  step cut baguettes on the shoulders.

That is one of my FAVORITE styles and I have long thing fingers and this looks good on my hand.

jimutc, the last two you've posted are not unusual enough for a woman that likes to wear something that is unique...imho.  they are lovely but not unique.

eta:  the first melissa postingis also my favorite of those.

Jimutc,

I like the ring melissasue posted, along with this setting from Tiffany.

Those two would be my picks. Link below of the other setting with a smaller emerald cut diamond.

Emerald with baguettes

No but you can copy the setting. :-) lots all over the web like it. The classic art deco is great and yet, its very modern at the same time.

Honestly, its like my second dream ring.
