This guy has the biggest selection of cut benitoites and jewelry I know of. A Google search with the proper spelling might locate more. The gem is named after San Benito County in California, the only source so far known in the world.

There isn't much to go around a few shops specialize in this...

You might want to try This one. (isn't this weird? the shop - WSF - gets the first mention here three times by three different people! I must have been writing in the same time with others.)  Some ages ago when I thought every new gem is cool... I bought a small one from this shop. It worked like a charm. Never bought anything from Steve's but that's my loss - some of the 'reserved' items are not for sale or could be kept for gem shows, you can try them too.

Barbara @ Acstones used to have a couple.

Among the shops posting here DD have a couple of small ones.

I don't know what to say about the stone - it s collection oddity, relatively soft and heat senzitive, always small (1ct is big deal, more is rare).

The crystals are quite a sight

Hi,

I have to second, third and fourth WSFgems.  Scott is a nice guy and easy to work with.  I picked up some nice large Afghan Tourmalines from him a couple of years ago.  Back then the price was very reasonable.  His cutting is superb.

Regards,
Maurice

Thanks all so much. Sorry about the spelling . I must have spelled it incorrectly on Google as only got a couple hits. I saw these stones on  Gary Dutton's site and have to get one.

I did not know they where a soft stone. Then I may have to set it in a pendant or get two for earrings! Since I live in Cali I think I should have the state stone!

The guy you mention has a great selection! I will get my xmas gift from him!
