My dress is below.  I would like advice on a couple of items.

1.  What sort of veil would look best?  I read somewhere that the veil should end right above or below any focal point.  With a (mostly) backless dress, what is the focal point?  Is it in the middle where the straps intersect?

2.  What sort of bra would work best?  I can't have cups put in because of the style of the dress, and I need support, so going free is out of the question.  I think my options are either corset-style or stick-ons.  I'm thinking that I probably want a corset-style, but I'm not sure.

TIA!!

First of all, your dress is gorgeous!

I had a dress with a very low back and opted to have a corset bra.  I hated it!  It was not very comfortable and it kept falling down!  If you're not too blessed in the bust area, I would opt for the stick-on's, although one of my friends had some problems with those too (namely that she was pretty big and they didn't really cover her all the way).

If you have a veil that stops at the middle of your back, then you are breaking the line of vision of your back (does that make sense?)  I opted for a long cathedral veil that went 3 feet past my dress for the cermony, then for the reception I had another cathedral veil that stopped around mid-calf.  I had always wanted a long cathedral veil, and it was probably silly to have two, but this way I got what I wanted.

Wow, great dress!!!  I'm completely clueless about the bra situation as you'll see if you read one of my other posts although those sticky bras are sounding better and better!  You might want to give that a try.

Regarding the veil, I have to agree with pebbles (once again!) that a long cathedral veil would look amazing with this dress.  I think anything else is going to cut into the detail on the back unless you had something comes just to the shoulders.  With a dress like this that is modern and sexy, that might look a bit "old-fashioned"--hope I'm not offending anyone.  I really think the long veil will keep the lines flowing smoothly and will look really elegant.

ditto...i think an single tier long simple veil would look sooooooo elegant with this dress.  the alterantive is the super short birdcage veils discussed here (http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=36344) for a more chic, retro/vintage feel, which i think you may be able to pull off with this dress.  MY vote is for the long veil (but I'm biased cuz thats just my favorite!)

as for the bra sitch, the material of the dress is so slinky i would be worried that a corset would show through, i think stickons or the Nu-bra type (here's a link that Brightspot posted for a cheaper alternative http://www.bridesave.com/search/index.cfm?action=details&product_id=14972 ) would be best.

i love your dress btw and charmeuse is such a yummy material!

Ok, if your concern about going free is the visible nipple issue, there is a product out there called Breast Petals, which are stick on thingies that cover just your nipples.  You can find them at department stores or I'm sure online.  There is also Fashion Tape, which models and pageant contestants use to "glue" their breasts in place or to the dress itself, or to create cleavage.  I don't think a long-line backless bra is the best option with that dress, either...your fabric is too delicate and you will see lines or "rolls" where it begins and ends, no matter how thin you are.  I went through the same thing with my dress and panties and pantyhose...I ended up wearing a Cosabella nude thong and found a pair of nude hose (Spanx didn't work, although I paid an outrageous amount for 3 pair in different styles!) and cut the feet off because I wore open toed sandals.  I had to have the hose as I was determined not to have a jiggly butt after I removed my detachable train for the reception!  LOL!  I just bought a size up from my usual and although a very select few photos show a slight waistline, most didn't and I'm glad I went with that option. Ok, that's all I have to say about undies.  Good luck!

Re. your veil, I would say with that dress (which is gorgeous!) you either want a very long sheer veil that almost meets the train, or one that ends at your tailbone, so the back view is uninterrupted.  I chose to wear a tiara and no veil because there was so much going on in the back of my dress anyway, with the cut and the train.  It worked beautifully, and I have never regretted it.  But if you must wear a veil, just make sure it doesn't interfere with your lovely straps in the back!

Actually I'm thinking it would be best to actually have a little support in addition to the coverage issue.  I'm a 32C or occasionally a 32D depending on the bra.  I've occasionally had weird skin issues too, so I'm leery about a glued-on bra, but maybe it would be okay.  Would a certain color (white, ivory, nude?) help with the visible lines issue?  I hadn't really thought about that problem.

Wow, your dress is amazing!  I agree with what everyone else has already said...a cathedral veil would look stunning or a birdcage, if you want to go a less formal, more retro route.  Or you could ditch the veil & wear a tiara.

I've never tried the stick-on bras before, but I've heard great things about them & might invest in a pair.  I really think the corset style bra would show through your dress (and probably be pretty darned uncomfortable to boot!)  As for the color, I think you'd be best off with a color that matches your skin tone closely.  A white bra under a white dress is often visible--stick with nude.

Good luck...any chance you'd post pics of you in your dress w/ whatever accessories you choose?  We love pics around here.   Oh, and welcome to Pricescope!

Slow day at work, so I've been doing some online wedding planning   I think I'm warming up to the idea of a cathedral-length veil.  I think it might make the dress look more alluring by hiding the back a little.  Thanks for the wonderful suggestion.  I'm not as enthusiastic at this point about a birdcage veil but I appreciate all of the opinions and help.

As far as a bra goes, on herroom.com I found a longline bra that looks VERY smooth and extends below the waistline.  The picture (below) shows straps, but they are removable.  Unfortunately, it costs $98!  It also only comes in white.  It's called "Bridal Seduction" (what a name!).  Is anyone familiar with it?

hmmmm.....not familiar with the bra.  But I have to agree with sticking to a color that most close matches your skin tone, white undergarments tend to show up more underneath due to the contrast bewtween that shade and your skin shade.  As for the bra, yes it looks smooth, but because your dress has no seam at the waist, I would be afraid the transition between the end of the corset and where YOU begin would show as a bump or a roll.  Unless the dress fits looser than it appears to in the pic, then you might not have to worry about it!

Wow, I just looked at the back view of your dress again and realized it's really low!  You're going to have a really hard time finding a longline backless bra that goes below the line of your dress.  Since you do want some kind of support, if I were you I'd go for one of the nubras or the sticky kind that just sticks to your sides. http://www.figleaves.com/us/product.asp?product_id=MLP-CF1900689&mci=&size=&colour=
http://www.figleaves.com/us/product.asp?product_id=MLP-CF1900689&mci=&size=&colour=  I found these two, but I don't know if the backless one is low enough, probably not.

Muddleheaded, here's the back of the bra that you posted.  It doesn't look nearly as low in the back as your dress is!  I also agree with ginger that you'd probably be able to see where the bra stopped & you began in the front as your dress doesn't have a seam at the waist.  As monarch mentioned, I suspect you'd have a hard time finding a longline bra that's low enough in the back.  I think your best bet would be the self-adhesive variety.

I'm glad you're getting excited about the cathedral veil!  I think it'll look stunning w/ your dress!

I'm a D-cup and thought I'd throw in my experience with the stick-ons.  They will work, but you have to use 2 packages for a D-cup size.  The model tape mentioned also will work.   I used 2 packages of the stick-ons and some masking tape....yes, masking tape.  It wasn't pretty getting all the sticky stuff off but it works.

That is one knock-out dress.  Do you have any pics of yourself in it?

To eliminate bumps or rolls at the bottom of the longline bra, I'm wondering if it would it be possible to wrap something akin to an ace bandage between my waist and my hips?  The dress is on order so I don't know how tight or loose it will be.

I think you may have linked the same bra twice, but thanks for your research.  I don't know about the back but I think the problem might be the size: it comes ONLY in a B cup!  How crazy is that????

Okay I'm an idiot for not noticing that about the back, so thanks for pointing that out.  I have been surfing for a similar bra with a lower back and the closest thing I found is called the "Felina Essentials Bustier."  Anybody familiar with it?  The description says it has a "deep V back," but there's no picture to confirm and I can't find a picture anywhere.  More bad news: It comes in nude, but not in 32C or 32D (go figure).  The other choices are white or black.

What about this veil?

The veil is beautiful.  Thank you for posting!  I'm thinking that with the back of the dress I might want one just a little longer than the one shown.  But I do like the cathedral-length idea too.  Wow, decisions, decisions, decisions!!

What a gorgeous dress!!!!  I love it!!

Another veil option is the waltz length, which falls mid-calf.

I'm having a slow day at work too...lemme see if I can find something for a bra for you online.

I found this bra on the website linked above, which looks like it might go low enough in the back for you.

Thank you selflove   It definitely looks like the back on the one you posted is lower than the back on the Bridal Seduction bustier.  The thing that would concern me based on what others have said is the show-thru issue, as the boning is visible and the bra comes only in white.  It also doesnt extend over the hips

VS has a seamless bustier (for $80) that extends down and has a "low back" (but no back picture) but it doesn't come in 32C or 32D and it only comes in white and black!

EDIT: VS also has a "backless bustier" (below) that has very light boning and a low back but it doesn't come in my size and again, the only colors are white and black!

Okay I've slept on it and I'm definitely leaning toward getting a cathedral-length veil.  Has anyone bought one online?  Are there any sites you would recommend or avoid?

Still not sure about the bra issue.  I'm having trouble finding a longline one that meets all the criteria (low back, seamless, etc.).  I might have to go the sticky bra route, but to be honest I feel leery about it!

Thanks for all the help!!!!

OK, for the veil, you should check out veilshop.com or valuveil.com.  Their prices are pretty good.  Also, ebay has tons of veils and they are really well priced.  And finally, I just found this place: tietheknotshop.com.  They have veils starting at $9.99!!!  I wouldn't spend a lot on a veil, especially if you're only using it for the ceremony and not wearing it at the reception.  I was fortunate enough to get my cathedral veil from a lovely pricescoper, rfath!  I'm sure most people don't want to keep them after they are done unless they are super sentimental.  I believe in sharing with other brides!!!

Let me know about the sticky bra if you decide to go with it.  I think with your dress, you really have no choice.  I'm thinking about taking that plunge too!

Given the style of your dress, I think you should really consider the NuBra.

Here's a recent thread with lots of discussion about it:
http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=36695
Appletini and jcrow recommend it.

Just to clarify - the NuBra is NOT the same as the stupid adhesive bra cups my mom tried to get me to wear for prom (stiff disposable stick-on bra cups) - it's made out of silicone that naturally adheres to the body (no glue).
I don't personally have any experience with it, but seeing how low the back of your dress is, and the way the fabric drapes, I don't think that a longline low-backed bra is going to look particularly good or be very comfortable.

And I really like your dress, by the way!  I think a cathedral length veil would be just gorgeous.

OK I'm more confused than usual.  If the NuBra doesn't have glue, how does it stay on???   My dress isn't fitted at the bustline, and I think it would slide right off.

One reason I was thinking I would want a longline is that the worst case with a longline is that I'd have to yank at it to keep it up, but with a sticky bra the worst case is that it comes off completely or irritates my skin!
