Curious About Diamonds Rough Rock Total Posts: 14 Last Post: 11/16/2005 Member Since: 11/8/2005	I have been doing some on-line shopping for cushion cuts and I have a question. I see that you can search by cut quality, i.e. IDEAL, PREMIUM, VERY GOOD, GOOD, FAIR and POOR. Does the quality of the cut actually determine how much fire or brilliance a diamond has? What aspects of a diamond actually determines these different ratings?

jazmine Ideal Rock Total Posts: 2,013 Last Post: 11/17/2009 Member Since: 7/12/2005	Yes, the cut determines the brilliance and sparkle. I believe cut quality is based on table and depth %'s and crown angles. There is more I'm sure, that someone else may mention. Also, girdle thickness is important.

Yes, for rounds, but for a cushion you will NOT be able to do this.
