Hi ladies,

I wanted your opinion on what kind of earrings I should wear with my dress.  I really wanted to wear a tiara, but I think that might not be appropriate for a daytime wedding on the beach.    So, maybe I'll wear my hair up (perhaps w/ a few flowers in it) & some nice earrings.  I want to keep the jewelry simple as the bodice of the dress is fairly ornate & sparkly.  I like the way my bezel set solitaire pendant looks w/ the dress (clean & simple) & want to find some earrings that match/coordinate well with the necklace & dress.

I bought these earrings at Ross-Simon thinking the milligrain work would echo my e-ring.  I think they're delicate & lovely, but am not sure they will show up in the pictures as they're pretty tiny.  (I'm wearing them in the picture below of me in my dress.)

WG & diamond drop earrings  Hanging Length: 1 1/4in

Can you see the earrings?

Here are some of my alternative ideas:

Something blue  Hanging Length: 2 1/4in

Another blue option  Hanging Length: 1 3/8in

Or a fakey pair to match my necklace:

Tiff. bubble jazz drop knockoff  Earrings measure 1 1/2" high and 1/4" wide, set with six bezel set CZ stones, each earring having approximately 2.5 carats of CZ stones (.15,.20,.30,.45,.55,.85).

Jazz double drop    Earrings measure approximately 1-3/8" long and 1/4" wide.
                                                                                    Weight: Weight is 4 grams

Jazz single drop  Earrings measures 2 13/16" long and 1/8" wide.
Weight: Combined weight is 6 grams.

So, do you guys like any of the above options or have any other suggestions?  My wedding is at 3pm on the beach.  Thanks!

I like the white gold and diamonds, and the first two fakey jazz drops (the single and the double).

That's MRS. Pittenger, thank you very much!

I like the ones you already have the best - I think they'll show up fine in pictures! From far away all you'll see is a slight glimmer anyway, so I would pick those since they'd look best in close-ups. :-) They're all gorgeous though! Be sure to let us know what you decide!

Also: I LOVE your dress! I'm guessing you got the corset strings thing worked out?

I don't think you need a lot with that dress. You want people to see you.
The small-ish ross simon's add a nice glimmer, they'll be nice in close-ups.
They are very sweet and pretty and go well with your e-ring.
Those and a flower in your hair will be gorgeous - and elegant.

Scintillating...

Hi Bright...I'm new here..this is my forth post. I've been lurking forever.  Nice to meet you.

Your dress is beautiful and you look beautiful in it. I like all the earring you choose but I think I like the 'something blue' ones with the tear drop on them.  That's a very originaly way to incorportate blue into the wedding.

I think a little more sparkly at your ears would be good.  I'd go with the Tiff bubble drop knockoffs of the choices you posted.

You really cannot go wrong.  I LOVE the something blue teardrop earings.  My visiion if of the very crystal blue water reflected in your lovely blue jewelry.  But maybe that's just because I was was thinking of going blue.  Your choices are all lovely.
I am SO HAPPY to finally see you in YOUR dress.  IT looks great.  I gather that things worked out?

Thanks, everyone for your thoughts!  I do like the earrings I have--I think they're simple & pretty & don't compete w/ my dress or my face.  They're also really light & comfortable!  And they kinda match my e-ring.  (not that this is important...)

But, they don't match my necklace as well as the Jazz or Bubble earrings.  Those have a bit more sparkle & would coordinate really nicely w/ my necklace.

But I do love the idea of using blue in my jewelery somehow.  (unless that doesn't match the bodice of my dress....)  Tybee, you hit the nail on the head--I was envisioning crystal blue jewelry to mirror the crystal blue Caribbean waters.  I love those briolette earrings too--not sure if they'd be too heavy?

There are more pics of me in my dress on this thread as well as my current concerns w/ it.  (Skirt is too big & likely too hot?  You can tell better in the other photos than the one posted above.)  I know, I'm obsessing...

I like the something blue ones, but then I love all things blue. I think the Jazz ones might be a bit much.

Yeah, I know waht you mean about the Jazz earrings, Matatora.  I want to be careful not to get too glitzy here.    I think the sparkly bodice may be pushing it for the beach as it is...

Thanks, begin ing!

So, I think my top favorites now might be the blue teardrops or my WG & diamond drop earrings.  (for the moment, anyway! )

Obsess away,
I'm just so jealous that you got your dress... once I get mine, I'm sure I'll be doing the same thing.

If I were you, I'd be finding SOME REASON to BUY some beautiful earrings...even if I owned the perfect pair. What perfect excuse to splurge on yourself than your wedding day?

I love blue!

You look amazing in your dress!
I do think you should try more earrings because I can't really see them on you. Just a suggestion not a demand.

I think the one you already have is very pretty and delicate, and because they are small, they fit with you wanting your jewelry to be simple/minimal.    If you really want something to go with the pendant, then I would go with the first fakey ones.  But in the end, I really love the original ones.

I like either the ross simons ones you have on in the pic where you're wearing your dress, or the briolette blue ones.  I am leaning toward the first ones b/c in pics you don't want to see two spots of blue in your hair, know what I mean?  I'm not explaining it very well...

The earings I wore for my wedding were very similar to the first ones you posted.

Tybee, I can't wait to see you in your dress!    You're going to look amazing!  (and yours will actually fit well--heh!)  Don't tell anyone, but I did buy the first pair of earrings (the WG & diamond drops) for myself w/ the intent of wearing them to my wedding.    I guess I was just second guessing my choice a bit?

Scintillating, here's a shot of my necklace.  It's about 1/3 ct RB set in a fairly thick bezel mounting on a 16" chain.  Very simple.  I wear it every day, but actually do like the way it looks w/ my dress.  It's just a tiny bit of sparkle, but not overwhelming at all.  I also like the fact that I can't feel it when it's on.  I hate the thought of a longer necklace sticking to my skin if I get sweaty...

Hi,  Brightspot!

Well,  here's my opinion...(Keep in mind that I'm probably old enough to be your mother...does that disqualify me?)

I really LOVE the earrings you have... I really do...but I think they're too small for this occasion.  They are virtually invisible in the picture of yourself that you posted.

My favorite is the single Tiff bubble drop pair,  they're clean and simple and similar in style to your pendant.  They'll be photographed together in all you closeups,  and hopefully the earrings  would add a little sparkle around your face from a distance.

JMO...oh...and by the way... I'm a TERRIBLE judge of the actual size of earrings in photographs.  If those tiff drops are huge and garrish and fakey looking...I retract my vote!!

Although I love the something blue idea, I would go with the white diamond drop earrings. (Jazz single drop OR Tiff. bubble jazz drop) You look fabulous!

JG, thanks!  I really like the Tayla too!  I still have to figure out some alterations issues, but I’m happy w/ my choice.

Widget, you really pinpointed my dilemma.  (and no, your age doesn't disqualify you, silly!  ) I love those WG drops, but I just don’t think they match my necklace well.  I think the same might be true w/ the blue briolettes, as much as I love them.  So I might go with one of the bezel set fakey pairs (like the bubble jazz?) so that the necklace & earrings will coordinate.  (either that or find a more antique-inspired look to match the WG earrings or an aquamarine pendant to match the blue drops)

I added the dimensions of the earrings to my original post.  I really love the single jazz drop, but at nearly 3”, I think they’re just too long.

Wal-Mart Blue Topaz earrings are pretty inepensive perhaps a quick visit there would help? I cannot find them on thier web page but they have the ones pictured in blue topaz too. And for 10$ they are definately worth looking at IMO.

I really love the single jazz drop, but at nearly 3”, I think they’re just too long.

Would it be worth the trouble or expense of having them shortened?

PS How about these?  (I found them at www.dealtime.com)  they're catalogue #50866 at Bloomingdales.  They're 1 3/4" long....

So do I!!  Thanks, widget!   I like these much better than the pairs I posted.  (I wasn't a big fan of how the CZs in the bubble jazz pair increased in size from the top to the bottom of the earring.)  These are simpler in design & a much more manageable length than the single jazz drops.  They'll match my necklace perfectly while adding a bit of sparkle around my face.  I think I might even have a Bloomie's gift card for $50 lying around somewhere too!

Matatora, the earrings you posted are really pretty too (especially for $10!), but I was trying to stick to diamonds (real or fake) rather than pearls as the beading on my dress is very sparkly.  But they're really lovely, though...maybe as a little gift for me...

Ok, so I was browsing in Stardust Antiques the other day & found this necklace.  It's very similar to my neckace in that both are WG bezel set pendants on a 16" chain, but this one kind of matches my e-ring with its octagonal halo.  It has a 10 point diamond in it (I don't have any specs on it) & is $240.  Do you guys like it?

So, now I'm thinking either I should go w/ my necklace & the earrings Widget posted or this new necklace (perhaps as a wedding gift? ) & my WG drop earrings.  Which option do you think would look better w/ my dress?  The vintage-looking set would be more subtle & delicate & less blingy.  Would the modern lines of my existing necklace compliment my dress better?  Also, would it be silly to have 2 necklaces which are so similar?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Option 1:  current necklace & fakey earring drops

Option 2:  Stardust necklace & WG drop earrings
