Hey everyone!

After months of searching, I have narrowed down my search for a bridesmaid dress to this one.

What do you all think??

The color will be "wine" and I guess with a black bow unless you guys have another color suggestion for that.

Thanks!!

That is one of my FAVORITE bridesmaid dresses. I think they are sooo cute. They were super flattering on me when I tried them on. The empire waist looks goon on my smallish bust.. LOVE them!!

Love them! I think empire waists are great, and in the long run, spaghetti straps a lot more practical than strapless dresses. I went to a wedding a couple months ago where all the poor bridesmaids had to keep hiking up their tops all night! They'd had them fitted, but there just isn't the structure holding them up that you have in most wedding gowns. The bow makes a cute accent as well.

That's MRS. Pittenger, thank you very much!

I think it is a great choice! I even like the beige/black combo. I think I might stick with the back bow so the ladies have an easier time finding shoes.

Thanks guys!!  Just wanted to make sure I didn't choose something strange lol.

And I purposely made sure the dresses would have some type of strap because I am so afraid of pictures with my girls (and even me) hiking up our dresses constantly because they keep slipping down.  I too have seen it at too many weddings, and don't want to put my bridesmaids through it!

Thanks again for everyone's opinions!

Very cute!  I'd be happy with it if I were a bridesmaid.

Flopkins presents an interesting idea with the silver ribbon&bow.  With wine that might look great (although I usually have to see things first).

Oh and the bow.  Silver is an interesting thought, I will check to see if that is a color!  There are tons of colors (basically every color a dress can come in, the bow can come in).  I was thinking the black because it would match all the men in the black tuxes.  But now I have to rethink that decision!

Okay everyone, I have ONE more question, I promise!!!

I have decided to order this dress, and now must consider if I want to order shawls, and if so, what color.  The wedding is in the middle of June in CT at around 5:30pm for the church, 7 to midnight for the reception, the dresses will be wine with a black bow.  If I order shawls, I don't know whether to order them in wine or black.  Do I even need shawls???  Oh, I'm so confused!!!

Any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc. would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cute dresses!

What are your option in terms of a shawl?  Is there one you have to get (if you choose one) or are you asking this question generally?  I think a very sheer shawl (like a plain piece of sheer saw silk) would be really pretty with those dresses and a great idea because your bridesmaids could use them again...  To that end, black would (a) be easier to match and (2) be easier to use again.  If you only have one option of shawl, I would base your decision on how you think it matches your dresses.  Is it cute?  If so, I say go for it.  If not, I don't think it is necessary by any means...

Thanks abradabra!  The material would be satin, the same as the dresses.  I think black would be a nice contrast with the dresses and would match the bow, but I just wonder if that is just too dark and drab for a spring/summer wedding that already has dark red dresses??  But with my luck, I order the shawls and it will be over 90 degrees on my wedding day, and if I don't, then the girls will be freezing because it will be rainy and 50 degrees LOL.

Hmmmmmm....  If it is satin and you are having a spring/summer wedding, I think I might lean against ordering them.  They sound super-cute, but I see your point about being too much for the setting.  Besides, I'm sure you'll have a gorgeous, sunny 75 degree day!!!!!

Are you getting married in the evening?  They wouldn't be too "heavy" (in terms of color, not weight, etc.) for evening at all...

In that case, I take it back... I think it would be a good idea.  Your friends could definitely  use them again, even if the weather doesn't allow for it during the wedding.  I think it's generally better to have a shawl and not use it than to not have a shawl and need it!  Plus, with an evening wedding, they are more likely to need it (chill outside, etc.).

Thanks!!!  You're right, I'm leaning towards ordering them (they are only $24 each and I'm paying) and worst case senario, they just don't use them for the wedding.

So do you think black or wine??

I would go for black, easier to match other stuff like said before, and more on a contrast. What is the temperature in June where you're at though? I'm thinking of ordering pashmina shawls for my girls, but my wedding's in April. And I wonder if they would use satin shawls again? Not as easy to wear, ya know?

Flopkins, the temp here in New England ranges drastically for June!!  This year we had over 90 degree weather on the day I will be getting married, but normally it is no where that hot.  Maybe 60s or 70s.  And definitely chillier at night.

I don't know, I just can't decide!  One moment I'm thinking yes, the other no.  Maybe I'll sleep on it and come up with a definitive answer tomorrow .

Is the reception outside? If it is.. get the shawls.. If not, I'd say don't bother. If you are just worried about them getting from the limo/car to the recpetion and home, i wouldn't spend the money. Also, satin shawls really aren't that much warmer than nothing at all. For my friends wedding that was in early april and snowing, I considered buying a matching shawl for the dress, but I just wore my coat in the limo and into the reception. All I had to do was worry about getting from the limo to the church (it was about 4 feet)

Okay Rascal,
I was totally confused at first, I saw your kitty cat and thought to myself (that looks like stretch...)
I love the dresses!
I''m originaly from CT (Oh how I miss it sometimes.)
I"d order the shaws, you're right, you can never tell with New England summer, June is still pretty early and it might be cool.
Good luck!
Where's your wedding?

I would order them because it's not much money to spend and those who want to wear them can (whether it's chilly or they want some coverage for modesty reasons).  I like the contrast that black would create.

Thanks Tybee!  The wedding is at a church in Orange, and the reception is at the Great River Golf Club in Milford (both cities are on the shoreline in New Haven County).

And yes, I'm going to order the shawls I've decided.  We are taking pictures outside, and if it's chilly, they will really come in handy.

Do you guys think black is too much??

I think black is better.  I think the wine color would be too much, but I like contrast.  Plus, they'd be a lot more likely to use black again.

Thanks abradabra!!  Well, it's final, I ordered the black shawls.  Worst case senario, either it is too hot or they don't look right, we just don't use them.  And you are right, they have the best chance of being used again if they are black.  So black it is!!

Thanks again for everyone's opinions!!  I appreciate every single one of them!
