Hi all,

I'm trying to find centerpiece ideas.  Something classy, sophisticated, and unique!

Show me yours or pictures of your favorites.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Here's ours. Silver frames with engagement pics in them with a BM bouquet on each table.

What a cute picture!  I definitely like the idea of using a bridesmaid bouquet for double duty!

This is mine, but instead of the clay saucer with water, I'm going to have a large square mirror with votive candles at the corners.

i dont have a pic on me at work, but my centerpiece was a smokey clear vase that i stuffed with one green apple and one red apple and water and then i had lilies coming out the top with some greens...the water magnified the apples and made them look huge! something different i guess =)

Wow!  Very unique centerpieces.  Aphisiglovessae, where are you getting your lanterns?  I like the Asian look to it.

MSB, send pics of it as soon as you can!  Sounds interesting!

Thanks,
Stephanie

I found some online for 5 dollars a piece, but they're a little smaller than I want, so I'm making them myself.

Mine are not very unique..

But with less flowers (probably only 5-6 large roses per table), and I think a round mirror. I'm gonna use the votives because I think they give everything such a romantic glow..
And I think I may borrow JCJDs photo frame idea. :)

I will have the candles around the center piece too.  I found the candle holders at Pier1.

From my September 2003 wedding.
Red glass hurricanes I got at Costco, 3 per pack.  Candle inside from IKEA (cheap place for white candles!!!).
Wreath around hurricane of red and yellow roses with greenery.  The wedding colors were red and yellow.  The dinner plates (buffet style, so not on the table prior) had red rims so they matched nicely!  I also wanted centerpieces that weren't too tall - I hate it when you're at a table trying to talk to someone and you can't see over the centerpiece!  These were substantial but not obtrusive!  I loved them.

I definitely love the ideas of having candles and flowers as my centerpiece.   My reception is at night and I think they would look stunning and romantic.

Any more candle centerpieces?

This isnt a very good picture, but this was our centerpiece. Like FireGoddess, i didnt want anything too tall that you couldnt see who was on the other side of the table!

There were 3 more candles on the other side of the mirror as well... not sure where they are. Each table had a different color hydrangea and we ordered them from a local grocery store florist and stuck them in the vases ourselves. Saved TONS of money. Its hard to see in the pic, but each table had a different colored organza overlay too. Cheaper than colored linens.

I have better pictures but the caterer stole them!

Practical, probably not because the guests won't be able to see each other across the table. However, it shouldn't cost too much to make, unless you're using real flowers. The most expensive part would probably be the glass candle holders that hang.

Wow!  I love the variety of centerpieces on this thread.

NJC, I love hydrangeas!  Those are cool vases?  May I ask where you purchased them?

Elephant, I like the dramatic effect of the centerpieces.  I saw similar hanging glass candle holders at Illuminations the other day and was trying to figure out how I could tie those in.

MSB, those apple centerpieces are great!  I had no idea what to expect when you were explaining them earlier, but they are super cool!

Keep the ideas coming!

I love hydrangeas too... i had them everywhere for our wedding!

I got the hydrangeas and the vases from a local grocery store called Ukrop's, they are kinda like a Harris Teeter. We got the vases at cost (like $1.15 i think) because we were getting the flowers from them and were buying 50. They are called ivy bowls and ive seen them all over the place like Michaels and even the dollar store on occasions.

This what they look like without flowers...

And with roses...

Here's one from my friend's wedding. I just LOVED the color combo. Plus, when the bride and groom walked in FIREWORKS came out of selected centerpieces. It was so cool!
Just love the colors and flowers though!

NJC,

Sounds like a great deal!  Did you do your own flower arranging or just get a good deal on the vases?

It looks lovely!

I'll show pictures in a few weeks, but it sounds like our florist is getting very creative. She's won awards at the Chelsea Flower Show and is planning on red Amaryllis with washed coal in the vase for our table centre pieces.

It's such a cool idea as my Dad is from a coal mining area of Wales!! There's a bit of everything in there as she's planning on using palm foliage to represent Bahrain which is where we live at the moment and the red is for Lancashire which is where I'm from (despite the fact that we're getting married in North Yorkshire and having the reception in a hotel called The Yorkshire).

I'm also pretty excited about my wedding cake - it's chocolate and more chocolate from Betty's Tea Shop (pretty famous in the UK).

Hope everyone's plans are going well! Not long for myself and Punch'n'Pie - both 15th October!

Mmmmm!!!  Sounds De-licious!  Are you using your florist to decorate your cake too?

I'll be anxiously awaiting those centerpiece pics!  I'd also love to see the other flower stuff (bouquets, ceremony decorations) from your wedding.  That's awesome that she's incorporating such a personal touch in her design!!!

Thanks Jelly! We did our own flower "arranging" for the reception. I put arranging in quotes because the hydrangeas have such large blooms, all we had to do was fill the vases with water, clip the steams and stick them in. Each vase only had one bloom (6-7 inches wide) which again cut cost!

just looking - your wedding sounds fabulous! Be sure to come back and tell us all about it!

WOO!!! AHHH!! YIKES!!!

I dont have any pictures, yet, but my florist is using square tapering vases of varying heights for each table with red roses, spray painted twigs in blue and red (part of our color theme) and flowing greens. Since part of our theme is Scottish, she's taking 4 ribbons, one each of red, navy, hunter and yellow, some thin, some thicker, to match the colors of FI's kilt, and running one set in one direction as a table runner across the table, and one set in the opposite direction, so they will cross and look like plaid. The vase will go where the two sets of ribbons cross and we will scatter votives around. She's very creative and I am putting my trust in her since i havent really seen the completed idea. I hope though now after reading your ideas that they are not TOO tall and TOO flowy so my guests cant see each other!!!

My favorite color is sparkle!!!

This is the best pic I could find, sorry it's not a wider shot.  Anyway, we had 8" round bubble vases with bear grass in the bottom and black magic roses, purple lisanthus, pink stock and green amyranthus arrangements.  This was set on a large bevel-edged mirror and surrounded by small votive candles and rose petals.  Once the lights were dimmed and the candles lit, they looked really lovely (even if I do say so myself).
