Well, I found it. Funny thing is, it's the simplest, plainest, least expensive dress that I tried on. LOL. Me and my mother went to David's Bridal yesterday and tried on about 6 dresses. After that, we went to another shop in Dothan just to look and I found the other two dresses I liked in Pensacola at this store and tried them on for my mother and father. At David's Bridal there was one dress that my mom saw on their website that she was really interested in. When I tried it on, everyone's eyes lit up. All the other dresses didn't look as good anymore. The chantilly is still beautiful, but I realized that it wouldn't go with my crown. I'd have to wear just a veil and I really want to wear this crown. So that was a matter of sacrifice and I decided not to do it. The david's bridal dress is absolutely adorable in my opinion. I picked it because I didn't want everyone to just say "wow, that's a beautiful wedding dress." I want them to say "that is adorable!" Call me crazy, but all the other dresses made me look old and this one makes me look young. It's a very modern-bride look and trendy and I like it just the way it is. However, when I was looking in the mirror, I still felt like I was missing something. After a few minutes it dawned on me... gloves. I always said before "no gloves!" and I always wanted the embroidery and crystals and glitz and glamour, but in the end I ended up with a plain dress with elbow length gloves. Funny huh?

Sorry, but the pictures do not do either me or the dress justice. I think I look so chunky in these pictures.

Ha ha, my hair is so messy! I had to put it up all weird so we can get an idea what the whole package would look like.

ETA: Crap, this is the wrong picture. Let me try that again.

The whole package put together. I'm not necessarily going to get this veil, but it gives you an idea on what the whole thing will look like.

YOu look great! It's perfect! Isn't that annoying that you always have something you love in mind and yet never end up liking it when its on? I went with a dress NOOOOOOTHING like what I had intended Id buy.

I tried that dress on!!  And I loved it!!  I loved the clean simple lines, I thought it was really elegant.  And I'm obviously a MAJOR fan of dropped waist, as anyone who knows my dress saga can attest to.  I was THIS close to buying the melissa sweet version of that dress.

The dress looks FAB on you!  Congrats on finding THE dress!  That is soooo exciting!

You're right, that dress is absolutely adorable. And goes perfectly with the crown. With something like that on your head you really needed the cleaner lines and less decoration on the body. You want to look like a princess, not a show girl!

That's MRS. Pittenger, thank you very much!

You look really lovely! I think that dress is simple enough to where is 10, 15 years it wont make your wedding pictures look dated. And with the gloves a very lady like. Are you in AL? You mentioned Dothan and Pennsecola?

This dress was a close second, but it didn't have the box pleats and I would've wanted to add some more beading along the bottom to match the top.

JUST adorable! It looks similar to my dress with the band and the bow on the side except my band/bow is along the bodice, not the waist. So of course I love yours! you look great in it! Dont underestimate the power, beauty and elegance of simplicity!

BTW, chunky???? I dont get it girlie, look at that tiny waist! Im jealous!

My favorite color is sparkle!!!

Thanks everyone! I've just never considered myself very photogenic and I have the worst body image of myself. I am working out though and hope to lose a few more pounds before the wedding. The wedding dress is a size 8. I'm pretty excited about that.

David's size 8 is really a size 4 in real life. I know what you mean though because that is what I wear and I feel like a blimp half the time. part of being a woman I guess. I love the first one (I got my dress at david's even everyone warns you about them, I had a great experience). It is beautiful!

Hehehehe - It's amazing how that happens isn't it.
(Finding something that's perfect, when you thought you wanted something else entirely.)
My engagement ring isn't anything like I'd imagined I'd want - but it just works
Congratulations! You look beautiful! (and yes - you are QUITE Photogenic.)
It's beautiful, very fresh and modern - but still elegant and classic - it's TIMELESS!

Can I make a suggestion about gloves?
You want Opera length gloves!
They should come up to where the dress hits.
Where I've drawn the line.
Hope this helps.

Scintillating...

Good call on the glove length scintillating! I just ordered some opera length gloves and I'm about to try and order the dress today (it's the last day of their sale). Hope all goes well. I'm just so scared because of all the stories I heard about Davids.

There's no way that's chunky! My wedding gown was a size 22 and it was snug!

The dress looks gorgeous on you!  Congrats on finding "the one!"  I love the gloves too.  I wore gloves to one of my proms (I know, not the same as a wedding, but it's the closest I've come so far ).  I got more compliments from my gloves than anything else.

You look beautiful: good luck with the rest of your planning!

P.S. I was keeping up with your other thread about your mother issues.  Did she approve of this dress?  I hope you guys are able to work everything out and enjoy this special time in your life.

Matatora: I agree with the dress not looking dated. I don't think I'll look back at my pictures years from now and say "what the hell was I thinking?!" with this dress. It doesn't really fit any sort of fad that's going on right now. Oh, and I live in Pensacola.

AsscherGirl: My mother and father definitely approve of the dress (it was their favorite). They were there with me when I found it. She still says it's up to me if I want the Chantilly, but I picked the Davids Bridal dress because I think the Chantilly was just too much (with my tiara it might end up being too gaudy or something). I like simplicity and so does my fiance and my parents. Matter of fact, my mother didn't even know how much the Davids Bridal dress was until we were about to leave the store. We worked everything out before we went to Davids, really. Now she's going to have to deal with how much I paid for my photographer! lol. She'll get over it though. She knows I'm trying hard to get the best products for the best price.

Oh, by the way: I ordered the dress today!!!! I'm so excited! I also got some opera lengths gloves for a really good price elsewhere. I didn't get a slip yet, but I plan on getting the fullest slip possible. I tried on the dress with two slips at Davids Bridal and it looked phenomenal with a full skirt! The dress is going to be ready WAY in advance (November), but that give me plenty of time to order another one if the one that comes in is wrong. My wedding isn't until July, but I'm getting a lot accomplished. I have my invitations, my favors, the reception/ceremony site, the photographer, the wedding dress, and half of the decorations. I want to get it all done beforehand so the day of the wedding will go stress-free and hopefully without a hitch.
