I have heard some here discuss that spinel has a gray mask. I am wondering isn't that just saying it has tone without much saturation of color? Thanks in advance Doug

I have heard the tern used for blue spinel. I was thinking it would also be used for other colored stones.I do have a sapphire I think it would suit.

Maybe an expert could chime in here. I would like to know if the term "gray mask" is just tone with out saturation of color. Thanks Doug
