I have decided to go ahead and reset my ring in white gold or platinum.  I want something classic yet noticable.  I was thinking of a tall cathedral setting for my marquise.  I would then put my two white gold diamonds on each side.  I think the cathedral is dressing enough for the nices gown but calm enough for a pair of jeans.  I am looking at a couple online.  Could show me some pictures of yours.

thanks

I like it but are those diamonds on either side of the solitaire? I prefer cathedrals to be plain or have surprise diamonds since it's generally supposed to be such a clean look

Well humm...I agree with what ame said...the thing that the little diamonds there make the setting look off. The next two are too small for me to see well enough to discern them.

it's funny, some else was looking at those settings for a princess and most of us like #2. but for your marquise I really like #1.

I like the 2nd (I'm not a tapered fan)
I swear these two exact settings where in a thread in Rockytalk
!

Yup I went back and checked here is the thread.
They were going with a princess cut though.

OOPS...I must have been typing when you were Mrssalvo!!

LOL, it's funny that for your marquise, I like the first setting. But for the princess, I like the second.

Number 1 may give you gaps at the taper. It's hard to tell without a side shot. Number 2 may work better for a flush fit.

I like number 2 (the last setting you showed.

Its clean, simple and not "bubbling" out.

They are both lovely elegant settings.  I prefer the first one, but the second one might work better with your bands.

Rhonda, this is a very different setting.  I don't know if it's your cup of tea, but I find the Lagos Bridal Collection a bit compelling.  Here's a picture:
