Hi everyone; I am going to have a pink spinel ring to get appraised. I got the name from the list of appraisers in my area from this site. I am wondering if there is anything specific I should be sure to ask for while it is appraised? They told me on the phone that I get to watch them examine the stone and they will explain everything about it to me and that I get a report about it when I leave from what i understand. thanks

Hi Pad3006, First of all ask yourself why you want to appraise it for ??? 1) Is it for Insurance ? 2) Is it for shipment purposes ? 3) As tangible assets ? 4) as collateral to bank/someone ? 5) to sell to someone ? And, ask or inform your appraiser if it is appraised as ; 1) replacement cost ? (which sometimes most impossible to replace) 2) Retail Cost ? 3) wholesale cost 4) Consumer cost ? All this matter to the final price he will give you. Bon.
