Someone pointed out that ovals can tend to have unsightly bowties -- do cushions suffer from the same fate? i'm trying to compare and contrast the two cuts, but without much of a starting point. any opinions would be helpful. does one cut tend to be more expensive than the other?

Hi Lulu, It's true that some ovals can suffer from a "bow-tie" which is a detraction. Yet others can look quite good- even if a slight bow tie exists- if it's not severe, it's seen as part of the cut's personality by oval lovers. Cushion shape diamonds can take many different shapes, with many different facet patterns. Therefore it's difficult to make generalizations. In terms of price cushions should , theoretically, cost the same as a like quality cushion. BUT there is a larger demand than supply for cushions which might make desirable cushions cost more money than ovals. David |

I was wondering if anyone could post a picture of a more oval-shaped cushion?
