Is there a general rule when it comes to a HCA rating? ie/ if a stone is above a certain score should you forget about purchasing it? If so, what would that score generally be?

scores under 2 are considered ideal, however, lower (i.e. .5) is not necessarily better.

This is a totally subjective opinion here.. But the stones that I saw that scored around 1... like .9 - 1.2 were very bright and sparkely.. The stones that scored 2.5-3 were not "as" sparkley or lively as those that scored closer to 1. To me it was visible -- but to most, it won't be -- as who will have 2 stones close together all the time.. I tend to like the look of stones that score around 1 Laney |
