Hi Ladies! Sorry it's been such a long time between posts for me, and most of you are going, Who IS this girl? but I am a newbie and a bit of a lurker at the best of times, there are just soooo many posts to keep up with! Anyway, in the last 3 weeks the Boy and I have been through the exciting process of getting my ring made: It's a .45 carat diamond, with a white gold half bezel setting and a yellow gold band. Not a large diamond but beautiful and I am (and have been!) SO excited about getting engaged finally. We've booked tickets to fly home for the weekend in 3 weeks which is when we will show off the ring to our parents and families, etc., and I knew the ring was supposed to be ready to be picked up on Thursday (1st Sept) i.e in 2 DAYS!! As some of you girls may know, the last few weeks have been a constant state of "Okay, from tomorrow it will be 2 weeks away! Oh boy!.... Wow, it's 6 days away! Oooh, only 3 days to go!" and even though I don't officially know when he will pop the big Q it will have to be before we go home for the weekend. So today, he rings me up from work and says, "I have some bad news... the diamond people rang me up and said that there's been a delay on the ring. it's actually ready, but they have booked a cut and polish on FRIDAY, and it won't be ready till Monday. I just didn't want you to get all excited when it's not even going to be coming this week. It's actually annoying because that was the excuse I was going to make (the ring being delayed), and then surprise you with it, but I actually got a call and it's true - you can see the call on my phone (he knows me all too well and obviously was worried I would suspect something!!)" Well! I wonder if this is actually a ploy, allbeit a smart double fake-out if you will, and it is still coming on Thursday, but I honestly don't know anymore... sigh! I just don't want to get my hopes up if it really isn't coming till Monday, and he was very convincing. Cut and polish? is there even such a thing?! Or am I going crazy? ![]() |

LOL, ashby! Welcome to PS, btw! ![]() This pre-engagement process is so exciting (though sometimes a bit unnerving as well.) A very similar thing happened to me. My FI & I were in the process of having my ring made & I had it in my head that we were going to get engaged on a particular weekend, which happened to be the only weekend we were going to be at home for a month. The ring was due to be in the previous Thursday, but my bf told me there'd been a delay & he wouldn't receive it until the following week. I was just convinced that this was a ruse to throw me off track. (I even posted a thread on PS about this! ) So, for the first half of that weekend, I was totally expecting a proposal. Turns out, the ring was indeed delayed. So, it's possible your bf is trying to throw you off, but it's also equally possible that the ring has been delayed. So don't get your hopes too high for a proposal this weekend just in case he's telling the truth! It's only a few more days until Monday. Try to enjoy the anticipation if you can. ![]() (Don't you love how calm I sound now? Clearly I was freaking out when I thought my bf had my ring!!!! )Your ring sounds beautiful, by the way. I can't wait to see it!

Hey ashby! Welcome to PS! I know how you feel!!! I'm in the same pre-engagement-is-the-ring-ready boat right now. I'm so excited for you! I say try not to read so much into what he is saying otherwise you'll just drive yourself nuts! ![]() I love the anticipation!! It's pretty fun! I've been trying really hard to keep my mind off the ring and the proposal. Yah, I know it's almost impossible!!! But I've been doing pretty well. Bright laughed at me when I told her how I was keeping my mind off of it....LOL...hee...I've been (for fun) shopping and working on my RHR and dreaming about that instead! It actually really helps. You should try it! It's so fun too! ![]() I think your day is coming soon....so enjoy this part of the pre-proposal because before you know it, it'll be over! And you'll never feel this antsy and jittery feeling again! That's how I'm looking at it.

Hi Brightspot! Congratulations on your engagement, by the way - it's nice to see someone who has come out on the other side.. and survived! It's so frustrating for us girls when the ring gets delayed - don't they KNOW that it kills us?? Thanks for the support! Milly, I enjoy following your updates, and will be excited to see your proposal and your ring! Your little family is just the sweetest, and your bf certainly seems like he's having fun torturing you As for me, I do think he was telling the truth now - oh well!

Thanks, ashby! I know, these ring delays are SO frustrating. I'm the type of person who envisions things in great detail in my head, so I was NOT thrilled to find out that my proposal was not happening on the correct weekend. LOL! The delay kind of helped me relax about it a bit as I tried to realize that it would happen soon, but not necessarily when I wanted it to happen. At least you know he'll propose before you go home so you know it'll be soon! How exciting!
