Another handbag thread, sorry, I just didn't want to hijack someone else's thread!!
I really like the LV Trouville.  It retails on eluxury for $825.  I found someone selling it on ebay for $200 less. This person got it from someone else on ebay who purchased it from eluxury in March and has the receipt, etc. for the bag.

The person selling it paid $625 for it in June and was asking the same price she paid.
I waited for the auction to end (no one bid) and then offered her $525 (shipping included).  I figured that $100 less than what she paid seemed fair considering she had it for a few months and used it.

She sent me an email and said she would sell to me for $575 with shipping included and that she already had another offer for it for $600.

What should I do?  Offer her less, or buy it for that price?

I can always ask my friend to get me the bag with her Saks discount.  She can get it for $577.50 plus tax, it would cost me $628 and it would be brand new and returnable.
The only thing is, I feel so guilty asking her to get me the bag and considering it is August, she may not even be able to get me the bag (she has a limit on her LV discounts).  Once she tried to buy me a LV wallet with her discount and they told her that her discount was at it's limit and it was only February!!!

Help!!! This is my last big purchase before the baby arrives!!!

I own the LV Trouville and it is a terrific bag!  A nice size, cute styling, and I love the inside pockets.  I am not an ebay shopper, but if you can be sure of the authenticity it sounds like a good deal.  It would be nice to get it with a discount from Sak's, but I can understand not wanting to abuse your friendship.  Either way you will adore this handbag!!!

I would try to get it from your friend, or I would just spend the few extra bucks considering how much you are spending already to make sure you can have it repaired anytime.  I would be skeptical buying something like that on ebay, especially since she has used it I don't think it's a fair price.  Just my two cents.

I agree about first trying the friend! If you really don't want to do that...stick to your guns....Why would she sell it to you for 575 if she got another offer for 600? Doesn't add up....she's trying to haggle...Ebay makes me nervous unless I'm super confident.- would she give you the receipts? Are the tags still on?

eBay can be good at times but when you are talking bigger bucks, I say go with the friend and the assurance you know it's real and as someone else noted, the lifetime repair policy, not sure if that works on an eBay purchase.

Well,
I offered her less and she agreed to my price.

Thanks for the great advice everyone!!!!  As far as the lifetime warranty, I am receiving the Eluxury receipt with this bag, so I should not have a problem if I have to have anything fixed at the LV store.
Plus, as long as it's authentic, I don't think they would care if you have a receipt or not.  I am sure they get a lot of bags from people who don't have the receipts.

I will post pics once I get it, either way.

By the way, my due date is tomorrow!!!!!

Hi there,
Get if from your friend; it's a big purchase and something you'll keep forever.
I got ripped off on Ebay with a handbag (it was a fake) and it really annoyed me after doing all the research, reading the feedback blah blah. Luckily I got all my money and shipping back. People do get great bargains on ebay and authentic stuff but if its a matter of a little more $ and the fact that the item is brand new, I'd definitely try your friend first. Having just had my second baby (four months old); I enjoy my new handbag and jewelry as I can't fit any of my regular clothes . A great bag can make you feel fab! Good luck!

Anika.

That bag looks totally real to me. Plus, I got the good vibe from the seller. I also like her feedback- not tons of handbags. The leather looks like good Louis leather. The seams look right and not cheap. Looks totally real! Congrats!

 Thanks guys!

We agreed on a price of $557, shipping included in the price.
She also sent me a few more pictures.  It turns out she was selling the bag because she just bought a LV denim monogram bag and she took pictures of the two together to show me the detail in the handles, etc.

Incidently, I did speak to my friend about her discount today and she said that she just bought a bag for someone last month and she didn't have enough "credit" on her card to purchase my bag until the other person paid for the bag first.

I also got the sense that she didn't want to do it for me anyway!

good for you.

You'll be the stylin Mom with her infant in one arm and the LV on another.

Well, I don't know how stylin' I will be, but this is it for me for a while!!!
I don't even plan to use the bag right away, I just wanted to catch it since it seems like such a good deal.

This is the bag I will use in the meantime-

I promised my hubby after this I will be a good girl!  Also, once I return back to work, we are thinking about getting a new car!  So definitely no bag for me then.........
