Does anyone know anything about weddings at either of these places. My boyfriend really wanted to get married in the Caribeaan or Mexico. However, I believe Vegas it will be. As that is what I want, and he has realized not everyone we want to come can afford it, and we cant fly everyone to the River Maya. We had thought we would get married at Mandalay Bay, but now someone from his works daughter got married at the Four Seasons. He feels that it wont be as 'cheesy'. The resorts are attached, but I have never stayed at either. Our wedding is nearly a year off... but I feel we should start planning. Any advice? |

Well, I have never been to Vegas, but I have heard really wonderful things about Mandalay Bay.... Plus, the VP has stayed there, so I suppose if it's good enough for the VP, it's probably pretty nice...? My fiance has stayed there and thinks it's great! ![]() ETA: But, I can definitely see your fiance's point.... However, I'm assuming that you are doing a destination wedding? If so, then wouldn't you want a little cheese as is the Vegas experience?

I attended a wedding at the Four Seasons last year. It was nice but not super fancy as the "Four Seasons" name might indicate. It's in a quiet area so that was nice. The wedding I attended was quite small (about 40 guests) and the ceremony location and reception space were both small as well. I don't know if they have larger spaces to accomodate a bigger wedding. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay for the wedding and it was a very nice hotel -- not cheesy at all. I got the feeling that a wedding at Mandalay Bay would be more splashy/exciting while the Four Seasons would be much more quiet/low-key. Hope that helps!

It would be fun to get married at the Venetian and then take a gondola ride as husband and wife.. :) My favorite hotel in vegas is the Bellagio - fabulous location, service, rooms and food. all good. But, back to the question..I think Mandalay Bay would be a great setting for a wedding. It's a really nice hotel!

If you decide on the Mandalay Bay you should have The Chocolate Swan do your wedding cake. They are oringinally from WI (so am I) and they have unbelieve bakery and I consider myself an expert. They are located at Mandalay Bay.

If you have it narrowed down to those two hotels, I vote for Mandalay Bay. I've stayed there once. It was nice, but I didn't find the food that tasty. I ate at their buffet and the Chinese restaurant inside the hotel. Vegas usually has really good buffets, but this one was nasty...or maybe it was because I was hungover too...*shrugs* but my friends who weren't hungover said the food was nasty too. Have fun planning!

My cousin's friend was married at the Mandalay Bay and she couldn't stop raving about it. Because of the hotel's decor, the wedding pictures looked like they were taken in a tropical paradise. Since your FI wanted an exotic location, maybe this location would satiate that desire.

Thanks for your advice. For those of you that havent been. The Four Seasons actually runs the top 4 floors of Mandalay Bay. So by staying at the Four Seasons you get many of the benefits of Mandalay. The differences I am seeing is that at Mandalay you have to use their flowers, their photographer and only stay in the chapel a half hour. The four seasons, is a bit more pricey, but you pick everything yourself. My fear is that by doing the Four Seasons, I will get what I want but will go above and beyond the budget I couldve gotten away with at Mandalay... and if everyone loves Mandalay, will it be worth it?

I would go with Mandalay Bay since they are basically the same location. Although you have to use their florists and photographers, you still get to dictate the type of flowers used and the type of pictures taken. I'm sure you'll be able to get what you want even if you don't get to pick who provides it. My only concern would be the 30min time limit in the chapel. It shouldn't be a problem if all your guests are staying at Mandalay Bay and not coming from a diffierent casino (traffic on the strip is always sooo slow). Just try and negotiate a good room rate so nobody stays elsewhere and things should be just peachy. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks for all the advice. Still not sure what to do. The catering minimum for the room I want at the four seasons is $8,000. Which is fine, but it would almost be as cheap to take everyone to auerole in mandalay (my fave restaurant in Vegas). No decisions are made. However, we just booked a room at Paris for October to do some research! (this will be the 3rd trip to vegas this year!)

We did go to Vegas last month to do some reasearch. And we now are booked for our wedding! As of this weekend all deposits are paid. So EXCITING. Wedding Date is August 5th, 2006 Wedding at Mandalay Bay, reception at the Four Seasons. I'm so happy, there really is going to be a wedding! We are moving to LA in March, and with all the changes we didnt want a big huge Chicago wedding, and we figure since everyone will have to travel, Vegas it is!
