I'm stuck. I want a nice balance for my new 1.29 center solitaire and eternity combo, but I don't know how to get it. I am considering the Stuller Solstice, the Exceldiamonds classic tiffany, Whiteflash tiffany, and the basic Stuller 4-prong, all in platinum for the e-ring. I am getting a shared-prong eternity band. I was thinking 2 to 5-pointers, but husband thinks 8-10's, and I am worried that these will overpower my center stone... Is there some magic formula or ratio of center stone size to eternity melee size, or E-ring band to eternity ring band, or any combo of the 4 that those of you that know could suggest??? The center stone is georgous, and I want to make a statement but not overpower the size with either the mounting for the solitaire, or by the eternity band. Am I making this Waaayyyy too complicated? The eternity ring thread has some great pics, but most of the center stones are alot larger than mine. This is just my first upgrade and from a 3-stone ring, so I'm not very good at the 2- band thing. |

Well, hopefully this will help. Here are my rings. My center stone is a 1.24, and my wedding band stones are 5-pointers. When I tried 2- and 3-pointers, they looked insignficant next to the center stone, and when I tried 10-pointers, they took away from it. I think you're WAY right - 8-10 pointers will overpower. Let me check to see if I still have a picture Brian sent to me. I had the same concerns, and I had him take a picture for me of 5-pointers on one side of my e-ring and 10-pointers on the other. Granted, it was a 3-stone them, but imagine those stones gone....lol _____________________ |

Yep - still have them...... Here are the pictures Brian made for me. The 10-pointers are on the right; 5-pointers on the left. Now try to focus on just the center stone and a band. I personally found the 10-pointers too chunky and chose the 5-pointers, but you may not. Hope this helps. _____________________ |

Thank You aljdewey!!! That is just what I needed...I'm one of those unfortunates that has to actually "see" it... Your rings are absolutely beautiful. I hope to be posting my pics one of these days. Thanks, again!

You're welcome.....I completely understand. Heck, I drove the sales folks BATTY at the jewelers counters during the intial stages of my search, too. I had to see them on the hand to know that 2-pointers wouldn't look right. Initially I was *convinced* I didn't want bigger than 2-pointers....until I tried it on with the band. Yuck. Looked totally overpowered to me. The minute I opened these pictures from Brian, I knew what was right for me. Glad they help you too!
