I'm looking for a wedding band to go with my engagement ring which is engraved 90% platinum. I found a ring that I love that is 95% platinum (950 plat) but it is so much brighter. The woman at the jewelry store told me that the ring will take on a patina like my engagement ring and they'll match. Is this true?

It is very likely the new ring is rhodium plated. We usually invite new brides to drop their E ring in just before the wedding day and we polish and re rhodium plate the wedder (a $20-30 free bee). They will look the same after a few months wear :) 90- 95% is no big deal. Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |
