Hello all:

This site has been a great help to me. I have been reviewing threads for the last two months. As well as this site I have attempted to educate myself about diamonds as much as possible. I feel fairly confident with what I am looking for but I am still learning how to visually pick out an excellent diamond.

Could anyone tell me if this is a quality marquise.

1.01 ct
Color: E
Clarity: SI 1
9.89*5.30*3.18
Total Depth: 60%
Table Diam.: 66%
Girdle Thickness: slightly thick (faceted)
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Flourescence: Very Slight
Bow Tie: I have looked at approx. 20 stones and it seems to have a minimal amount of bow tie.

Thank you ahead of time for any help.

the ratio of a mq. shape should be 2:1 as it should'nt be too fat or too skinny.

I understand that a marquise should be anywhere from a 1.75:1 to 2:1 ratio.
The ratio is more personally preference and I do not think it takes away from the quality of the diamond. I may be wrong.

Thanks for the post.

You are right about the ratios, and they are a personal preference.
I happen to love the marquise shape (have had 4 & just bought 2 more). But I don't like them short & wide, nor long & thin, yet some people do.
Seeing it in person is the best way for you to know!

Thanks Tarams!

I am in the same boat. I prefer the marquise in between short/wide or long/thin.

BUT, what do you think of the table %? or any of the other measurements?
