So Vietnamese traditions entails the groom's female relatives to drape jewelry on the bride as a symbol of their acceptance of her into their family (one of my alltime favorit traditions).  Now ideally, I'd be getting the real stuff, but alas the reality of the pocketbook (FTB and I will prob buy it and have his family "gift" me with em since they can't really afford to buy me jewelry and I feel weird asking them to) is that I am looking for nice fakes -0 i.e. czs, crystals, whatever.

My style is vintage, but not too too elaborate.  My dress has pretty intricate beading on the bodice so I don't want too much going on/be too top heavy.  I was thinking maybe a simple floating asscher cut surrounded by a halo of milgrained pave on a chin that lies pretty close to my neck?  or maybe that plus to identical smaller ones on either side?  with tiny dangly/drops (not too long, ending just beyond my earlobe.  and to top it all off i also need a bracelet.  i just want a hint of sparkle, nothing overwhelming.

sooooo...I need ideas on design and sites to look at.  I am horrible at the internet and my initial attempts at ebay and google are overwhlming me?  ANy one found a nice site for this kind of stuff? Anyone know of a jeweler who'll do custom work with the lower end material (sterling silver, czs, etc...)

any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!  (or TIA ala knottie speak -- yech, not a big knot fan, it took me forever to figure out what this meant -- the med school nerd in me was like "transient ischemic attack?  whats that got to do with anything?" i'm such a dork  .)

ginger, my mom had a tia 13 years ago and that is the first thing I thought of too!  What  about some of the Honora pieces?  they are really pretty, some of them.  Also, there is a stone that is kind of clear, I think it is a white topaz, that could be delicately set in silver...just some ideas to help you and congrats on your dress!  You will be a lovely bride.  And I am loving that tradition!!!!

Alright, there are so many other things I should be doing right nowI'm such a procrastinator! Ok, I don't know how cheap you wanted things so I did a quick browse of qvc and hsn and some other random sights. Its hard for me to look at jewelry and match it with an outfit online when I havent seen either in person, so I dont know if any of these would work, but I'll throw them out there....

Here is just an asscher, I couldn't find one with a halo.
http://www.qvc.com/asp/frameset.asp?nest=%2Fasp%2FisItemNumberRedirect.asp&search=SQ&frames=y&referrer=QVC&txtDesc=asscher&SearchClass=

ETA: I couldnt get that link to go exactly to it...it should now bring you to an asscher search, and the necklace is the 2nd one shown...hope that makes sense

Not an asscher, but maybe?

Maybe these earrings? They look like they'd hang right under the earlobe:

Hopefully some of the other girls will come up with some good stuff!

I'd suggest trying www.swarovski.com, they have beautiful crystal jewelry that is well priced.  I bought some of their stuff for myself and my wedding party and I couldn't be happier with the quality.

lol... this thread got buried and i totally forgot i posted it.  I think i'm totally getting ahead of myself.  I'm nervous buying anything becuase of the dress sparkle factor..i don't want to over do it.  How do ppl buy bridal jewelry if they can't try it on with the dress?

i checked out the cost of buying some asha simulants and custom made jewelery, knowing how picky i am!!  but sadly...it goes too far out of budget boooooo.  I can't seem to find vintage style fakeys anyhwere!

Maybe hang out on the www.betterthanddiamond.com boards for a little while.  THat's the Asha site, but on th emessage boards there are all kinds of sims, etc.  If you stalk the buy/sell forums you may find something you love at an incredible price.  The stuff  on there has the advantage of being well made...
