I'm in search for a setting for a 1.5c stone. I like the way tapered rings look from the top, but have not seen too many that do this. The ones I know are the Fine Line by Le at WhiteFlash. The Vatche Royal Crown/Royal X also do this to some extent. I think I also saw a Mark Morrell setting that had this effect. Any recommendations out there for other rings to consider that have the tapered look? Thanks!

Scott Kay makes a few like this. I'm sorry I don't have any examples to post but I believe the current collection is on his web site www.scottkay.com.

This one's one of the nicer settings I've seen with the tapered effect (Mark Morrell). Taken from this thread: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=10620&forumID=8&catID=&search=1&searchstring= ![]()

They are very nice....I love that look....a nice solid band, but not too thick near the stone...MM's settings really "flow".....WOW!

If I take that picture of the Mark Morrell and went to a local bay area custom maker, do you think they would be able to replicate it pretty easily? How much do you think a custom ring like that would cost from MM? My concern is that I saw a in-house settings a local store(Derco) that looked kind of "rough", in that some of the edges weren't that polished and symmetry was not ideal.

Hi there. That tapered look is exactly what I am looking for as well. WF has one in their design at about 475 for plat called sleak lines and Stuller.com has a couple too. :) here is a six prong. Comes in any metal and comes in four prong as well. http://www.stuller.com/public/product.aspx?prodGrpID=d2159e64-dd38-45a6-be68-b1d605e953e5&categoryID=2001e9b7-550c-4d99-aa87-52539fc7bbcb I like this engraved one- http://www.stuller.com/public/product.aspx?prodGrpID=043dc9b3-6730-4b7d-9ae0-2f5881658123&categoryID=71ba988b-63c5-4905-836f-864d2e1774d9 I love this tapered look!
