I was curious how many of you have purchased diamonds from an online vendor and have been able to see the stone before giving any money.  I would like to have the diamond sent directly to an appraiser so I can see it and have it appraised (and get sarin numbers).  Do most companies require money to do this?  Which ones will send it to the appraiser before you committ to the ring (before you pay)?

Many online vendors can give you the sarin info, if it's not on their site you can request it. I believe you foot the bill to have it shipped to an appraiser to look at. Most have return policy's which would give you time to take it to your appraiser and send it back if you decide you don't want it.

If you are using most PS vendors, you can get sarin info straight from them.  I am under the impression that most will send to a known appraiser with a deposit on the stone, but your mileage may vary there from vendor to vendor.

Jasmine,

Although this may not be current, this is one of the items reviewed here in Superidealists comparisons between vendors.
