I just read news that hello kitty diamond pendant was sold for about $53000.
at Mitsukoshi  nihonbashi store in Tokyo.
this hello kitty pendant was sold less than an hour after the store open.
acording yahoo japan news, a father bought it for he's dougther
and he came to store  from Fukuoka which more than 700 mile way from tokyo.
this pendant is 9 ct diamond and only one was made.

I want to know how old he's dougther is ????

Honestly, I've never understood this hello kitty stuff.
I could think of so many other things I"d want for $53k!

its cute and I have  a ton of Hello Kitty stuff (my nick name in real life was Kitty until UA). However 53K...wow that are a lot of things I could do with the kind of money. Like maybe a year or two of college, invest in soemthign so the little ones can have a nicer life later....I dont know I guess if you can afford it and you want to why not?

that pendant is the cutest!

i gotta figure if the dad is flying 900 miles, probably in his private jet, to get this for his daughter (is that her in the picture, she's got fake nails?!) then $53k probably isn't much for a bauble.

I have a lot of Asian girl-friends that are grown-ups with Hello Kitty fetishes. I have no idea why. They fill their cars with Hello Kitty tissue boxes, HK stuffed animals, pillows, and acessorize thier cell phones with HK stuff. I think it's a fashion statement (kinda like Goth, or Punk) because they also wear HK baby T-shirts with pink HK socks and carry HK cases instead of purses.

I love Hello Kitty, but only on a limited basis - I use HK pens and also little note pads, but this is it. . .I don't walk around in public with HK outfits/accessories on because I'm 32 and would feel a bit self conscious.

A $53,000 necklace for a kid is ridiculous.    What a spoiled brat -  lol!

Whaaaaaaat?  53k is a lot of moolah, but to each their own.  I teach, so I love buying Hello Kitty school supplies for myself.  The girls all ooh and ahh over it while the boys just roll their eyes.

HI:

I would draw the line at the HK earrings or a charm--that 53K necklace is serious jewellery!!!!

cheers--Sharon

That is so me too. I love love Hello Kitty (ive earned quite the reputation on my obsession) but do limit it to accessories like my coffee mug, pens, pajamas and keychains. at 29 it would be a bit strange wearing shirts and stuff in public!

i agree...what a brat!

My favorite color is sparkle!!!

Welll.... I saw this Oprah show where Kimora Lee Simmons showed off her closet, and she showed off a diamond encrusted hello kitty pendent too. Maybe it's the same one? It looked a lot like that one except the chain was smaller. I think it's a bit cute.

I found this small article on it http://drinkthis.typepad.com/kimora/2005/04/hello_kitty_by_.html

ETA - I just posted this because Kimora's mug shot is hilarious!  lol  Nothing to do w/hello kitty.

Kimora Lee Simmons In Pot/Traffic Bust

Red string failed to ward off New Jersey cop's evil eye

JULY 29 [2004]--The power of Kabbalah abandoned poor Kimora Lee Simmons this week. The bothersome wife of music titan Russell Simmons was arrested early Monday morning for pot possession and assorted vehicular infractions following a traffic stop in Saddle River, New Jersey. As seen in the below police booking photo, Mrs. Simmons, 29, was wearing a Kabbalah red string bracelet to ward off assorted evil eyes when officers pulled over her Mercedes SL-600 (suggested retail price, w/o extras: $128,220). The flimsy string did not keep Kimora out of cuffs, especially since she repeatedly ignored police directions to pull over her ride (she finally stopped the Benz in front of her Saddle River estate). Russell Simmons, who has claimed that his wife may have been the victim of racial profiling, said her rough treatment by cops left Kimora with bruised wrists. Those boo-boos, of course, have now probably been concealed by two new Cartier bracelets. (1 page)
