Just came back from a party and I saw a real stunner!!! It is a 5ct+ Michael Beaudry Fancy cut diamond ring... It is like one of the rings featured in his website with the pave/halo/antique setting. Very recognizable.... It was gorgeous..... and 5ct didn't look gawdy in fancy cut....WOW.... I complimented the lady wearing it and she said she was engaged for 3 mos, and they broke it off and the guy wants her to keep the ring!!!! She also got a Porche Boxter as a break up gift........ I almost choked on my food but not because of the car.....  ... She said it was VVS1 quality and it cost a bit over 150k.....HOLY SMOKES!!!! Love it, Love it, Love it!!!! Believe it or not, she's a stunning lady too.....she has 3 kids of her own and also a grandmother, but she barely looks 35 years of age....and very petite..... Wow! What a generous ex-fiance! Lucky lady. Now, what kind of ring can her next fiance give her? How can he top a 5-carat Beaudry?

He let her keep the ring, ok, I can sort of understand that....but why did he get her a porsche for a break up gift? He must've fallen hard! I bet the ring was beautiful to see in person though - lucky you!

Just to be able to see that ring on someone...I really did feel lucky enough!!! :) I also admired about how open she was about the whole thing. She said that the guy is an attorney and had lots of real estate investments and he probably didn't know where to spend them... hehe... She also said that the guy propsed on the 8th date and it was unexpected and totally uncalled for since their relationship was not at that level yet. The guy was the one who broke off the engagement and asked her to keep the ring. She thinks he felt some sort of guilt after that and proceeded to give her a car!!! She said she met him from Match.com.... if you want to look for him... hehe

Mymulan, did it look anything like this? I love Michael Beaudry's work. Yes, he is very expensive and some consider his work "art". My upgrade is going to be based on this design.

Yes Ann, it looked like the pic you posted except that the center stone was much bigger, so the band looked thinner, and also the halo around the diamond is slightly thinner too. Would you please post your ring when you have it completed???? I would probably fall in love with it. I wish I could have done my ring similarily.
