My insurance agent just told me that neither Commerce Insurance (if I insure the diamond through a renter's policy) nor Chubb will accept an appraisal of a loose stone. He is telling me I need to get it reappraised in its setting. I can do this if absolutely necessary but it seems like a waste of money to me since I got an appraisal of the loose stone through WhiteFlash when I bought the diamond. Any ideas?

I recently had the same problem with State Farm. I had a second ring I wanted to add to my policy, but only had an appraisal on the center stone. I even told them that the appraised value was more than enough to cover the entire ring, but they insisted that the whole ring had to be insured, and I would need a new appraisal. There was no way around it. Sorry!

Thanks. That's really silly but what can you do. |
