Hey everyone! My wedding ceremony is at 2 pm and my reception starts at 6 pm. So people wont be going immediately to the reception from the Church. The Church is in my home city and the reception hall is about 20 minutes away from the church. The hotel I blocked rooms at is about 5 minutes from the reception hall. I have guests coming from the airport, north south east and west on the highways and also local guests who will not be staying overnight anywhere. What on earth do I do in terms of written directions and maps to include in the invites? Do I give directions from each highway to the Church, then Church to hotel? Hotel to reception hall? Or highways to Church, then Church to reception hall and let everyone find their ways to and from the hotel? probably will give a local map of the Church and reception hall. But what should I include for written directions? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite color is sparkle!!! |

I had the same problem so I just made a decision. We included written directions and a map from the hotel to the church, and from the church to the reception in the invites (hotel was on the same block as the reception site), and a map and directions from the church to the reception on the program. Probably the least-confusing option for you would be to include a map with all 3 locations highlighted and written directions from the church to the reception, although OOT guests might get lost on their way off the highways. If the written directions from the highways aren't too complicated, you can include them all too. You could also go all out and provide different directions to each guest.... but you probably don't have time for that unless your mother is Martha Stewart! Hmmm... If you think all the OOT guests (or most of them) will be staying at the hotel, I'd assume they're all finding their own directions to the hotel, so you can write your directions like I did. Hope that helps!

What we did was err on the side of too much information and included directions from everywhere! I actually had two sets of instructions - one that included the hotel, and one that did not. (I don't know why I didn't include the hotel on all of them - I guess was just afraid of confusing people that werent' staying at the hotel) We did to the church from the north, south, east, and west; then one just to the church from the hotel. Then we did to our friend's house from the church (as the ceremony was at 3pm and our reception at 6pm). Then had to the reception hall from the north, south, east and west and our friend's house; then one to the reception hall from the hotel. Was it overkill? Probably - but no one got lost! ![]() We also included a copy of a map and I had stars on the intersections for the church, reception hall and friend's house so people could see where they were in relation to each other.
