My b/f's best friend bought an engagement ring online from Diamonds on Web, well it didn't end up working out and he is stuck with a ring that he cannot use and doesn't need. It's an oval cut, .45 carat, D color and VVS1, it's in a platinum setting. He is having a lot of financial problems right now and really could use the extra money. Does anyone know what if anything can be done to get some of his money back. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Patience |

First, sorry to hear of your friend's troubles. I am assuming the examination/return period has ended. Some vendors offer a buy-back policy for a significant % of the purchase price that extends beyond the exam/return period. I couldn't find anything on the website, but has he called to ask what his options are? I know that may seem basic, but didn't want to leave it unasked, as sometimes people hesitate to do so. John |

I'm not sure if he has called them to see about buying it back, I will ask him. He took it to one jeweler today and they were only going to give him 5-600.00 for it. I just wish I knew someone who was looking for what he has that would just buy it but that would be too easy. I wish I knew a way to help him out. The whole situtation is a mess and the reason he is so low on money is because of her. It's just a bad situation. I will ask him about that though.

I have no idea if these people are reputable or how much they actually pay, but here is a link to a company that says "highest prices paid" They post some sample prices that look like they are maybe half of what you paid for it. Here are a couple more ... http://www.1diamondsource.com/service/sell.htm http://www.diamonds-chicago.com/buy_sell_trade_diamonds I really don't know anything about any of these places, but wouldn't hurt to do some google or yahoo searching for similar places and shop around to try to get best price.

I hope the original dealer will work with you. Here is another thread that may be helpful if he finds it necessary to resell. John |
