Cosmetics by definition are a luxury item. I would like to nominate for honerable mention: Charmin (the bathroom tissue). Now I admit that it is not sold in most countries in the world. But for those Americans and Canadians who think I am kidding - just travel to most of the rest of the world and find out what is used for toilet tissue in those places... Perry

lost on 5th Cut Rock Total Posts: 240 Last Post: 3/23/2008 Member Since: 3/16/2005	hmm.... i guess it all depends on how you deffine luxury. i think garry is onto something with diamonds. they are probably the most widely recognized luxury item however, as apparent here. are they still recognized as high luxury since they are attainable by so many? everyone here talks about diamonds all day, yet it was 20 posts before they were even mentioned. i look at luxury items as things that are truly above status quo. tomorrow morning i will most likely see 50 LV bags on my way into work. looking outside my window i see 3 BMWs and 2 Mercedes parked on the street. i dont know if those trigger the response of awe and luxury anymore. for that reason, i think the most recognized and respected luxury brand would be this horse right here.... whether stopped or moving, everyone watches it...wide eyed...jaw slightly open.
