Same Diamods at Different Vendors?? |

I have been noticing that a lot of different internet diamond brokers can offer to sell you the exact same diamonds. Not a very similar diamond, but the exact same one? I have read somewhere that this is due to the fact that most E-vendors do not have their own, or a very large inventory. Most get their diamonds from the same wholesellers and cutters. It this correct? If so, what is to stop a local b&m store from going and finding you the exact same diamond???

Nothing at all Rook, except the B&M vendor will usually put on a mark up to cover larger costs, where as the e vendor may have a commision only as low as 5%. The B&M store may be paying a % rent that is larger than that commision. Most of those stones are listed on B2B sites like Rapnet and polygon. The stones may not even exist (ie sold last week and not removed from data base yet) and certainly the e vendor has no idea what they actually look like. Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |
