Anyone know where someone could get 10 loose pale pink stones. I was looking for marquise (sp?) with a max length of 4 to 5mm in the longest dimension. I don't think I actually will buy any as of yet but was wondering if I wanted to do a project where I could get some. I was thinking about doing a custom ring just for a fun gift. I think pink diamonds would be too expensive but sapphire or cubic zarconian(sp?) would be fine. Sapphire better but hopefully the whole project would be under $100. Any suggestions? Ukieza |

Okay, another quick post. I'm actually a newbie to colored stones and know nothing about them. I'm just looking for suggestion of gem types. Material suggestions would be great! Ex. Sapphire, diamond, cubic zarc., etc... Thanks! Ukieza

Pink sapphire would be nice. I haven't seen any maquise ones though. That may be a little hard to find. I could be wrong, I usually am.

Have you looked at the light pink spinel? Others have posted some truely lovely ones.

I just saw your budget and for $100 you're going to have to go the CZ route. Pink sapphire is going to be way above $100. Unless of course you look on Ebay, but I can tell you what you see in the pics is not necessarily what you end up with.

Maybe not as light as you'd like, but they are pink sapphires, are plentiful, and very cheap!

Wow, that is a lot of them for cheap. And the size I was kinda looking for! A little dark but.. *shrugs* When they say "Treatment: HEATED" What do you think that means? Thanks! ukieza

From what I've read, heat treatment is pretty standard for sapphires. It enhances color and minimizes inclusions. Do a search on "heat treating" and it should reassure you. BTW- looking forward to the resolution of your engagement ring adventure!

Wow, thanks for remembering. I just posted an update to my saga in the Show Me the Ring forum. I said something about "Update on custom eRing computer design" for the title. Thanks for all the help on finding these stones. The reason I want pale pink is because I bought her some jewelry already that hopefully this would match. ;-) Thanks again! Ukieza

What valeria probably means is, what are you going to *to do* with the stones? Set them in a a necklace, ring, etc? Or just have as a collection? If you're going to make them into jewelry, it maybe better for the jeweler to source the stones his or herself. Small, matching stones like this are often easier and even cheaper to do that way.

Ah, I get it. I was thinking another custom ring.. But not sure yet. I'll probably have a jeweler find them for me as well but thought I'd ask what type of stones I should be looking at. ;-) Upgradable's help has been fantastic for locating pictures of things and possible prices on ebay. :-D Like I said, I'm not sure yet but I was thinking a ring. We'll see though. Maybe to too gawdy with what I was thinking for size. I have to draw something up before I get too carried away. -Ukieza

Few jeweler would give you a quot for those gem stones with mark up! I've always get my own stone and get my custom jeweler to set it - works out much cheaper!

I'll of course post the design pics after I finish before I go to have it built.. if I even will build it. Depends on if the gf (at that time she'll be fiance or even wife) even likes the design. She may not. Either way, if I do make the design I'll post pictures here! :-) -Ukieza
