Not just musical artists..but painting, drawing, etc?  I used to paint murals on ceramic tiles.  Sadly, I never took photos of my finished work...I'm sure the home owners that purchased my work wouldn't mind me coming and taking photos of them, though.  I hope I can remember them all

Anyway, I still draw on occasion...when I find the time.  I don't have a lot of time for anything much anymore and I actually hadn't drawn anything in over 2 years.  I sat down Tuesday morning and decided I would try my hand at it again so thought I'd share and see if anyone out there draws and paints as well.

Please share your artwork!

Here's what I finished this morning...I have yet to include the flower.  It didn't scan very well, either..its a lot softer in person.

How cool Belle!  I'm psychic  LOL  I drew another one about three years ago that is a fledgling blue bird sitting on a rose stem and there's a moth/butterfly type insect on the flower.  I'll try to scan it.  The picture is so big that I doubt the whole picture will fit on the scanner.  I may end up taking a picture of it instead.  Its hanging on MIL2B's wall right now.
Please post yours when you're finished!  I'd love to see it!!

Rfath~  Those are AMAZING!  How beautiful!  Whoever is on the receiving end of one of those are quite lucky

D4M.... I love the details on your little hummingbird. They have such delicate little feet.. I was never very strong with paints in class, mostly because I have this habit of sticking my fingers in whatever I'm working on when something isn't *quite* right and I can 'feel' what needs done more than I can address it with pencil or brush.

My teachers HATED that tendency and really cracked down on me when I got the paints out Guess they didn't like the mess!

I draw.  Mostly pencil and charcoal.  Never got the hang of painting very well.  My art teacher used to tell me that I overworked my paintings.  I'm way too much of a perfectionist and control freak to be a good painter or sculptor.  Drawing is way more suited to me, because I can erase or smudge if I make a mistake, or don't like what I've done.  I don't have anything scanned into my computer, pretty much everything I've got is framed right now.  I'll look around and see if i have anything in a sketch pad that's worthy of posting.

Thank you, Jorman.  I started drawing that one because H2B's mother loves birds so I figured I would surprise her with a new bird drawing when she gets back from Colorado.

Oh, and I absolutely love hummingbirds.

One of my most favorite paintings that I did was one of NC's light houses.  Bodie Island Light House.  It was about 4' x 3' on 4"x4" tiles and a lady at the coast bought it to make into a table for her beach house.  I regret selling it..but I mostly regret that I never took a photo of it.  What was I thinking??  Maybe psychologically I thought that having a picture of it instead of the real painting would have been depressing??  OK, I'll stop with the silliness!

Ame- A graphic designer.  I bet that's fun!

SJZ- I am SUCH a perfectionist it isn't even funny.  Its sad, really.  When I was painting murals on ceramic tile I single-handedly kept Windex in business!  I could see every teeny-tiny flaw in whatever it was I was working on and the whole THING would have to be repainted.  Period.  If it wasn't ALL perfect (to me) then it was a "do over".  I was asked so many times to paint murals directly onto the wall surface and I always turned it down.  I couldn't live with myself if I screwed up their wall!  What stress!  lol.

Can be. Sometimes it really sucks. Like when I get to be here from 7am till 11pm, most nights because some people don't understand that there are deadlines for a reason.

This is a fun thread!

I'm an artist too, and right now am doing all kinds of things. I'll have to see if I have any images on my computer.

I used to do a LOT of drawing (not nearly as detailed as the ones above! beautiful!) but, um, messier. I'm also currently getting in to installation/sculpture- so I'm building window screens! Yep, like the kind in your house, only in odd sizes.

Until a few months ago, I wasn't sure I could draw horses! I haven't actually tried drawing people yet. I get stressed when it doesn't look *exactly* the way I think it should.... maybe I can get my fiance to sit still long enough that I can snap some pics of him...

I can understand your frustration.  It seems that there are quite a few misunderstandings in the deadline department...I deal with it every day, too.

I think its a fun thread too, Rube!  Window screens?  You know...that reminds me.  When I was up in Balto., MD visiting family, there were a LOT of row homes near Fell's Point that had painted window screens.  They were amazing!  I wish I had photos of them but I didn't have a camera on me at the time.  Some were very detailed.  Very Victorian.  They were landscape type paintings on the screens..some were painted up like English gardens with the masses of rose bushes and such.  I feel like taking a trip up just to see if I can find those houses again!

I just can't get over those horse drawings.  They are so beautiful!

I don't have any photos but can take some one of these days. . .I make pottery.  Both hand built and on the wheel.  I was paying to rent space and kiln room in a studio, but haven't kept up lately as time is an issue, so I'm just playing around at home until I purchase a kiln - which won't be until we move.

MichelleCarmen, I love pottery and came very close to buying a kiln and making handmade "carved" tiles.  I sometimes wish I had gone ahead and done that..but..oh well.  Would really love to see your work

Lost, I love those drawings.  I've tried drawing buildings but can't seem to get them to look right.  Very cool!

This is so much fun.  There seems to be a huge connection between artists (of every medium) and diamonds and jewelry.  For the life of me, though, I can't draw a diamond to safe my life!

diamonds4me-   thanks.  :)    i drew a good deal of those 2 while on the L.  usually had a few people looking over my sholder on the way home...

i agree.  there does seem to be a connection between art and jewelry.   !

and for a different medium.... this is another passtime of mine.  digital photo alterations....   i have been on a real & surreal kick recently.  enhancing colors that live in the image...   it is still very much art, but of a different style.

to get this....
