USING MY GIRLFRIENDS NAME HERE BECAUSE I ALWAYS SEE HER ON THIS SITE -  NEED SOME ADVICE! JUST GOT BACK FROM A DIAMOND STORE AND LOOKS AWESOME TO ME, AND I THINK THE PRICE IS OK - HERE IS THE DIAMOND SPECS -
GIA CERT
EMERALD CUT
7.12X5.37X3.96MM
1.50 CARAT
DEPTH: 73.7%
TABLE: 61%
GIRDLE: THICK
CULET: NONE
POLISH: EXCELLENT
SYMMETRY: GOOD
CLARITY GRADE: VS2
COLOR GRADE: F
FLUORESCENCE: NONE
LASER INSCRIPTION REGISTRY

$12,200.00  PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK - THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE MAKING ROUGHLY $200 PER CARAT.  I UNDERSTAND THEY NEED TO MAKE THEIR MONEY I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I AM NOT GETTING RIPPED OFF.  I SAW SOME LARGER SIZE DIAMONDS ON THE INTERNET FOR LESS MONEY WITH THE SAME SPECS. DONT KNOW HOW THE WHOLE BUYING ON THE INTERNET WORKS - A LITTLE NERVOUS.
THANKS FOR ANY INPUT.

NO SHE KNOWS I AM DIAMOND SHOPPING - I MEAN WE'VE SHOPPED INITIALLY TOGETHER BUT SHE WONT KNOW WHEN, WHERE, OR HOW!  VERY HARD BECAUSE WE LIVE TOGETHER, WORK TOGETHER AND SHARE THE SAME BANK ACCOUNT.  SHE WILL BE SURPRISED ON THE MOST IMPORTANT PART THOUGH.

First of all, welcome to the board!!

Second, please don't type in all caps...it does get hard to read...

Third...of the specs you listed for the EC diamond, your depth is WAY deep...at 73.7%, most of your diamond will be located in the bottom portion of the diamond and may make your 1.5 carat diamond look smaller than 1.5 carats. BUT (and this is a BIG BUT!!!!) since you've seen the diamond and it "looks awesome" then that is what is important!!! The rest of the specs look good....

I would recommend you look on PS's price list (just for comparisons sake) to make sure that your price of $12.2K is comparable. That'll give you a better idea...

Can't wait to see pics if/when you get the EC!!!! They're my favorite!!!

im not too hot on Fancy cuts like Emerald, but a quick search for 1 - 2ct F VS2 emeralds using the search tool at the top of the page revield 1.5ct with a depth of around 67-68% was $8-10K (12K getting a 1.7ct emerald)

My personal opinion is that the diamond is #1 too deep and #2 overpriced.  Do some research please.
