Would a setting along these lines likely be protective enough for my square cushion zircon?

without going full bezel, it would seem so.  (but that is just my non-expert opinion!)

... doubt. zircon is brittle, even the "high" zircon.

if u got choices better be safe and go for something more protective.

Depends... are you planning on wearing it every day? If not, then this would be great. If not, I'm not sure... Maybe a full bezel bezel would be best.

Zircons tend to develop abraded facet edges...it will need some protection,

or just wear it on only those "la de da" occasions where you're not likely to slug someone or fall down in the street

kismet, can't answer your question but gotta tell you that i LOVE this ring from the side view!  i really like that the pavillion is still visible....

i'm wondering how a spessartite would do in this setting....?

I love that setting, and wonder how a blue topaz might do in it?
