I am looking at a HOF .463 ct G SI1 for $2500 - the problem is, am I falling for HOF because the store sells them, or are the HOF really worth the money being spent

You can do better, for less, without paying for the "name." (Unless of course, you really want a HoF diamond). Hearts on Fire (HoF) is a branded diamond that exhibits the "Hearts and Arrows" (H&A) symmetry. There are also other "branded" H&A-cut diamonds out there, though not as heavily marketed, such as SuperbCert, A Cut Above, to name a few. Unless I'm mistaken, HoF stones are only sold at retail jewelers. When I was shopping for a diamond about four weeks ago, I did take a look at the HoF stone and while it was very nice (except for the store sales person's attitude), it was about almost double the price of what I could find on the Internet. I ended up buying from Jonathan at Good Old Gold (http://www.goodoldold.com) and was extremely pleased with the service and overall process. This was what I bought: http://www.goodoldgold.com/_84ct_e_vs2_h&a.htm Regards, David |
