hey guys I just recently got a diamond..princess cut 1.31 carat I wanted some jeweller to set it up for me in a nice setting...Why is it that a lot of places take 3 weeks to do such work? I don`t understand that.. When You order a diamond and a setting online you can actually have it set and receive it in like 2-3 days... Whats Up with that? Why are jewellers taking so much time with setting a diamond? Oh one more thing anybody knows of any good jeweller in NEW YORK that could actually set my diamond in a setting in a quicer time? I also need to buy a setting from him :O) so he needs to have a good collection of settings to chose from...

A big factor with the time it takes is what company or designer the setting is coming from. It also depends on how many whether or not the jeweler who is setting the stone has the ring in stock. Even in that case, however, if the manufature of the ring has warrenties that will be voided by the jeweler setting the stone. Some designer companies mandate that they must set all of their own ring or the warrenty will be void. I know that it can take our store anywhere from a few days to 4 weeks to set a stone, that is all dependant on the mounting. Hope this helps a little.
