I thought it might be interesting to take a poll about people's engagements rings in different parts of the US & around the world.

Could you post the stats on your engagement ring (size, shape & type of stone (diamond, emerald, etc.) as well as type of mounting) and where you live?

I am from Connecticut (New England in the United States). I received an 18K gold band with two 1-point diamonds inside an oval "nest". We picked this out together in Genoa, Italy when we went there so that I could meet my fiancé's parents after we became engaged.

0.94ct D VS2 pear, yellow gold cathedral setting, platinum prongs.

I live in Washington state, but am ex-pat British. Ring was bought in the US. Would probably have got 0.75ct or smaller if we'd stayed in the UK.

Centre stone is a .91 D VVS2 princess cut with two pinks sapphires on either side of the centre diamond.  Can't describe the mounting, because it's so unusual, so here's a picture of what it looks like (this is from the brochure so it's not actually my ring).

Ignore the ring that's standing upright because that's with a round brilliant.  And the picture has pink diamonds - we couldn't afford them hence why mine's pink sapphires.

Oh it is FABULOUS!! I cannot wait to see the final product!! You MUST post (and PM me when you do!) This might be redundant as I didn't read all the posts in the other board but did you decide to go with the spacer? I will definitely like to see how that came out! Did you also get your center stone from WF? I was browsing and saw one that I really liked. Let me how your experience was...

So... there are American, Australian and British rings on the list. Somewhere in the depth of Pricescope there are some European ones (Norvegian, Finnish, German, and Slovenian - at least) and Asian from Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand and Japan...

One could draw a map with countries and carats !

Another ex-pat Brit, now residing in NYC. E-ring is an E, VVS1, 1.32 carat RB.

Because of the size, which is pretty large by English standards, people thought I was engaged to royalty. How very disappointed they were to find out that hubbie-to-be was a lowly corporate lawyer.

My original e-ring is a 0.38ct round that was in a bypass ring with channel set rounds.  I live in the suburbs outside Chicago (hi Catmom! )  My ring is quite small by the standards out here.

My ring is a 1.20 carat F rectangular radiant cut on Michael B 3 sided pave.  I live in northern Indiana.  I have had a lot of people ask me if my stone was a 2 or 3 carat.  I think that's partially because center stone size probably is around .75 in this area, but also no one has ever seen a radiant before and the rectangular shape makes it look larger....
