Did anyone else watch?

A friend of mine who watched (while inebriated) thought it was a great show...I however, did not have the foresight to be drunk...and I thought it was DUMB.  It's like Newlyweds meets Blair Witch meets...Paris hilton's sex tape.

Anybody watch?

FG, it would normally be right up my trainwreck-rubbernecking/pop-culturewhore alley, but durned if I didn' git so full of cheetoes and red bull that I plum furgot!  (Sorry.  couldn't resist.)

I fully intended to check it out and I totally forgot it was on--which is probably just as well.  There's plenty of humorous commentary on it on www.televisionwithoutpity.com (they call them Brandine and Cletus over there.  LOL.)  so I may just read the snarky recaps.  But of course the vulture in me wants to watch.  It's completely pathetic.

No I didn't watch it but have watched the Gastinaeu girls.  I'm sure I spelled their name wrong but that show just is addicting.  They are so spoiled.

I have watched a few episodes of the Gastineau girls.  The mom's not so bad...the daughter's a complete spoiled brat.  Still I watch, beause good LORD - the jewelry on that show is to DIE for!  That woman is ALWAYS at a jewelry store or a jeweler friend's place....there are diamonds dripping everywhere.  So much eye candy.

I watched because I saw a glimpse of her dress somewhere and I had hoped to see more of it, which I did. I WISH I had come up with something like that, it's GORGEOUS

OK, I've only seen part of a couple of episodes so maybe some of you can answer some questions for me about "Meet the Barkers".  Are both of those kids theirs together?  I noticed the little girl calls her mommy.  If so, then why are they just getting married or have they been married for a while and they are just showing old footage?  Was she really Miss USA and from what year?

The portions of the episodes I saw showed her staying in bed and sleeping all day.  HELLO!!?? Doesn't she have TWO KIDS?!  How in the hell does that happen 'cause it sure hasn't happened in my house since my kids were born!  It must be nice to be rich and have a nanny.

Pear-

They are both her kids..the daughter is from when she was engaged to Oscar de la Hoya (boxer- very cute, but ended up that he was kind of a cheating scumbag), the son is hers and Travis'.

They do show her sleeping alot- I guess either her mom or his mom is close by (they never show her name, but there is a lady that is there alot, and the relationship seems too close to be nanny) and they prob do have a nanny too.

I think she was miss USA about 10 years ago (1995)- she was first runner up, but the winner (Chelsi Smith) went on to win Miss Universe. So Shanna was made Miss USA.

I love the fact that when she picked him up from the airport, she drove the minivan...I know they have SUV's and fancy cars too, just showed me that they are not 'too cool' for a minivan.

I also watch the Gastineau girls- reality tv junkie here. Caffeine and reality tv...my vices.

My thoughts exactly. BF and I watched it out of curiosity. He then said..."I take everything I ever said about Jessica Simpson being dumb".

"Like you know...I've seen everything and done the whole marriage thing so I want to meet a guy who has absolutely no idea about life experiences". Did that actually come out of her mouth? What is she like 22? Man...I'm 33 and if I knew that I could have had the secret of the universe wrangled up in the jam of my toe I would've looked to her for advice!

I watched it but the camera spinning around so much made me sorta seasick.

I think if Britney thinks she is getting a guy without a lot of worldly experience she is in for a rude awakening.  This guy is an amazing manipulator.  This show is fun to watch from the psychological standpoint alone. Britney comes across as pretty easy to read and he knows to keep her unbalanced by giving her just the opposite of what she wants.  She comes across as lonely and desperate.  And really, really dumb.

So he flies to England in response to her transcontinental booty call and as soon as he gets there he's all "I should just go home"  which throws off the balance of power ("please stay, please stay"). Britney: "who are in your sexual fantasies?" ("pick me! pick me!) Where most guys would say what she wants to hear, Kevin's all "Oh I don't know, no one in particular".   Pretty soon she's walking three steps behind him and desperately trying to get pregnant so he'll just have to stay.

Game, set, match to Mr. Federline.

But there is something to say for Britney trying the "have him oiled and brought to my chambers" bit with a guy she met in a club 6000 miles away 5 days ago.
That is power you must admit.  Her attempt at wielding that power will end up costing her plenty.  It's like watching the train head down the track and you know the bridge is out but there is no way to stop it.  She's on the path from sex symbol to aging train wreck sex symbol.

Some interviewers say there isn't a word that comes out of her mouth or an image that you see of her that isn't very calculated to present just what she wants you to see of her.  Since her name is on the project this is exactly what she wants you to see.  It's interesting for that reason alone.  Who is having the last laugh here.  She thinks she is, but I think the audience will.   I can't see her career ever recovering from this huge mistake of a TV show.
