it is a rare ct weight - that is a good find. But there are some worrying signs Could you get an ideal-scope image? If they say no - then it validates my fears Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |

Thank you for you replay. I checked with the store today for the ideal-scope image and the guy i spoke to said that there are only about three ideal-scope imagaes in the states. Now what is the deal with that ? Is there something that he doesnt want to tell me or this is true ? Do you know any good online store??

He may not be familiar with the ideal-scope. If you want to pursue it with him you can tell him it's kin to the AGS' new Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool (ASET). Perhaps he knows of that technology. Further, you could email him this link on how ideal-scope works with evaluating light return on fancy shapes. John |

If he does not know about ASET he soon will. The American Gemological Society is moving to a more performance-based system of evaluating diamonds in rounds and Princess cuts. I am certain your jeweler will be familiar with AGS. Ask him if he's seen the latest releases that concern ASET and performance-based grading. Here are examples of the new grading reports the AGS will be using for rounds and princess cuts. It's okay if he is not familiar with this material yet. In particular, some vendors are not as up-to-speed on reflector imagery (ideal-scope and ASET) as others who serve a large Internet clientele. There have been many innovations in the trade to model and evaluate diamonds 'sight-unseen' - partly due to serving the needs of the educated Internet marketplace. These innovations have helped raise the bar all-around. Here is an article by Paul Slegers, who is very up-to-date on the best performing Princess cuts and the new AGS Grading System. For feedback on vendors - or to look up general info that has been discussed before you can do a Pricescope search (upper right of the screen) on any keywords. John |
