This is piggybacking off the thread asking how people first found Pricescope.  I think Kaleigh had mentioned it would be fun to see if people have spent more or less after coming to Pricescope.  So, have you bought any additional jewelry and if so, have you used your new PS knowledge?

My answer:

I came to PS after getting my engagement ring.  Prior to becoming engaged, I had almost NO interest in jewelry.  But since then...my wallet has taken a serious hit.  I bought an H&A solitaire pendant for my sister, and she in turn, offered to purchase one for me, so I had the fun of picking out that stone for myself. I then had Whiteflash make me a sapphire/diamond ring hand ring, bought H&A martini studs from Quest Manufacturing here in Northern VA, acquired two additional pairs of diamond earrings and purchased a Raphael eternity right hand ring from Signed Pieces.  My husband now knows what sorts of gifts I like, so he buys me cute pieces from Elsa Peretti and Paloma Picasso.

So in the end, I estimate finding PS has cost me a TON!  And I love it all! But I am so broke and done with the jewelry purchases for awhile, at least.

The only thing we have purchased in this time was the wedding rings. I got mine through Whiteflash and his through Bruce Boone. We are likely going to buy some diamond studs through WF at some point....

I initially found pricescope when I was looking to purchase diamond stud earrings. (Purchased 2 diamonds from DCD's signature series) I recently purchased an ACA diamond half bezel pendant set in platnium from Whiteflash.  Since I am neither married or engaged, my next purchase will probably be an ACA diamond tennis bracelet, pricescope has definately not helped my savings account, not that I mind!

I found PS as I was beginning to look up information regarding emerald cut diamonds. As I became more involved with PS, my education helped immensely in determining the right EC for me...now that I have my w-set, I'm addicted and anyone who I know who's getting engaged or looking for jewelry, I immediately consult the PS'ers first!

I purchased my eternity band thru whiteflash after learning about ACA diamonds! They sparkle like no other I am hoping I can get a big rock thru them by the end of the year

I have been a jewelry nut for many years.  Since finding PS, I think I buy wiser but do not necessarily spend more.[$$)]

I have always been interested in gemstones and jewelry but since reading pricescope became more interested (or rather obsessed) with diamonds.  Since last spring purchased a .47 carat stone from Winfields, and in June Wink's interlap stud earrings for myself, my mom, and a friend (everyone loved them).  In December purchased a fashion diamond pendant and had Whiteflash replace the 12 pt stone with an ACA stone.  Purchased a diamond heart pendant for my sister (Blue Nile).  March, had my .47 stone put into a custom designed ring. Oh yeah, and in between a few small gemstones and smaller pieces for gifts.
Although It's been lots of fun and can always think of more "projects" needless to say I need to "take a break"!
I guess I felt more freedom to purchase items because I felt I knew what their true value, so felt comfortable spending more money than my usual price range.
I am still of two minds now that I learned about fine jewelry, whether (as pricescope has taught me) to save up and just buy one nice piece a year, (my usual modus operandi) buy what I enjoy, even if the stones or pieces are not especially important or valuable, but are "pretty" to me.  What are other people's philosopies of jewelry?

I've appreciated nice jewelry all my life - I remember admiring my mom's .25 RB ering and my grandmother's .5 RB ering when I was 7 - but PS has taken it to another level. In the 8 months I've been a member, I got my ering, we bought our wbands from SP and www.billbarnes.com, I bought my wedding necklace (created sapphire pendant) and my bridesmaids' garnet pendants on ebay, I just bought some cute glass earrings at the farmer's market, just last week I bought a little silver and diamond necklace on sale at billbarnes.com (Hot Diamonds brand), and I inherited some beautiful pearl earrings that belonged to my great-grandmother. Before PS, the last piece of jewelry I bought (besides cz studs and other Claire's quality jewelry) was my college class ring in 2003.
