I am wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me: I graduate with my masters in social work in 2 weeks ( already done w/classes and internship)... I just got the call today about my job offer, which I VERY happily exepted!!! I will be a therapist at a childrens home in my area. I am having all these MAJOR life moments at one: WEDDING, 1st REAL carreer related JOB, new puppy, new car...it's like my life has officially started and now I am a TRUE "adult". It's VERY exciting and VERY overwhelmling all at one...sorry had to vent!!!!!

That is very exciting. Congratulations!! I think for some people it happens a little more slowly/gradually. I won't be finished with my degree (PhD in science) for another 4+ years, and so that right there is different. I do have my own car, but it was a gift, so thats not really the same. I am a lot less dependent on my parents for $ (really just frivolous stuff that I could live without if necessary). And it does feel adult to manage my own (and FI's) money on our own and have retirement savings and stuff. But I don't really feel like an adult some days especially still being a student. I think a major adult moment will be buying our first house. I think for my FI it was more sudden - he moved across the country, got a job, and is financially independent, and it all happened within about 3 months. Anyway, sorry for the rambling, just to say that I think sometimes things happen all at once, and sometimes they are slower and more gradual - I think it just depends on the person and the situation. Everything that is happening for you is wonderful and positive - I would just go with it and try to enjoy it as much as you can, and take quiet moments as often as you can to remind yourself to enjoy it and hopefully to help you feel less overwhelmed. Congrats again!

Yes - I can actually feel the same way you are (or were!) In a matter of only two months, I have done all of the following: *Moved out of town (about an hour and a half away) *Got married just a month ago! *Also graduated with my master's degree *In the process of selling my own house in addition to living with my spouse at the house we now live in (two mortgage payments!) ![]() *Got a new job *...AND career to top it off I have felt so overwhelmed these past two weeks, I just lost it and bawled to my husband tonight. However, I know that this move was the most feasible thing to do. I just felt so secure at my other job even though I always wanted to go elsewhere and hate feeling like the "new kid on the block". So, yes I also know how you feel. Later!

Me too! Started my first REAL job last week, bought a house three weeks ago.. getting married in May, and I should also finally have my masters by then.. not that it matters becuase I'm just going to keep the same job I have now.. No new car for me though.. I do hope to get a new kitten shortly after our wedding though. |

Honey I feel ya! My now husband moved to DC in May for a job and because we had our wedding planned in Ohio in October, I stayed there to finish the plans and work. So I/we: 1-got married 2-packed up our apt and moved to DC (9 hrs away from friends, 12 hrs from family ![]() 3-got a new puppy 4-new job for me 5-received an honorable career goal in one of our organizations that i had to study a lot for) 6- get relicensed for work in 3 new states (a pain in the behind for sure) the list goes on! its very overwhelming but i keep thinking of the good stories of this rough time i will be able to tell someday :) My favorite color is sparkle!!! |
